Newsom says Trump Has People Checking on Him and His Wife…..

A Justice Department representative declined to comment. But a person familiar with the matter said the government has been investigating Newsom’s orbit for roughly a year. Investigations run out California’s eastern district and originating with whistleblower tips have focused, respectively, on the first partner’s taxes and on Newsom’s former chief of staff and potentially current aides, the person said.

Internal Revenue Service agents have joined the Federal Bureau of Investigation in making inquiries, according to the Newsom administration, underscoring the likelihood that Siebel Newsom’s finances are a target of the federal inquiry.

In addition to heading a film production company, Siebel Newsom oversees an organization called the California Partners Project that promotes gender equity. It has been the beneficiary of a process known as behesting, in which public officials direct private entities and individuals to channel money to philanthropic or nonprofit causes.

Siebel Newsom’s California Partners Project has received around $5.1 million in behested payments since 2020, from donors including the Lisa Stone Pritzker Family Foundation, Native American tribes and Silicon Valley Bank, according to required campaign finance disclosures. Some donations were made through the Central Valley Community Foundation, a philanthropic group based in California’s farm belt.

Newsom lambasted the apparent focus on his partner, admonishing Trump in his speech to “leave my wife and family out of your personal vendetta.”

The federal government recently reached into Newsom’s inner circle with a corruption investigation that resulted in his former chief of staff pleading guilty to illegally diverting campaign funds and to making false statements about passing confidential information to a former business associate regarding the administration’s pursuit of a settlement with the company Activision…..
