The California Democratic Governor, and early front running for the 2028 Democratic Presidential nomination IS setting a ‘marker’…..
With most Americans against the Trump War with Iran that WAS sold to him by Israeli, Saudi Leaders and others?
A Democratic 2029 President might be willing to re-examine the ‘relationship’ between Israel and America?
Hmmmm?
NOT so fast Governor….
American Jew’s tend to have influence in American politics….
While the polls are against them during this war in the Middle East?
Ya never know who you will need in a general election 2 years from now…
And it does appear that you are aiming more the Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu than Israe and Jews themselves, Right?
Gavin Newsom likened Israel on Tuesday to an “apartheid state” and said its leadership has left the United States no choice but to reconsider military support for its ally in the Middle East.
The California governor, criticizing the Trump administration’s strikes in Iran while promoting his new memoir in Los Angeles, was asked by Pod Save America host Jon Favreau: “Do you think, looking down the road, that the United States should consider maybe, you know, rethinking our military support for Israel?”
Newsom replied: “It breaks my heart, because the current leadership in Israel is walking us down that path where I don’t think you have a choice about that consideration.”
The remarks from Newsom, who traveled to Israel just after Hamas’ Oct. 7, 2023 attacks on the country, marked the latest attempt by the likely 2028 presidential contender to navigate an issue that divided Democrats during the 2024 presidential election. Newsom previously emphasized that he has not received campaign donations from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee — which doesn’t typically involve itself in statewide races — while also highlighting “the deep connections between my home state and this country.”
His comments Tuesday came after he sharply questioned Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s administration….
…
He went on to indict Israel’s military operations in Iran, which the United States backed up over the weekend by assassinating the country’s supreme leader.
“We’re talking about regime change?” Newsom said. “For two years, they haven’t even been able to solve the Hamas question in Israel.”….

Two percent of Americans are Jewish. Assigning oversized political influence to them is of course an historic global trope rooted in antisemitism, whether people realize they are doing it or not.
The vast majority of American supporters of Israel are not Jewish. That is simple mathematics. Democrats seem to be tripping all over each other to use certain buzzwords in an attempt to appeal to a base within their party, even though polling data shows that “Israel” or “Gaza” ranks very low on voters lists of concerns.
Anti-Israel or otherwise anti-Semitic sentiment has become very noticeable on sites like Twitter or BluSky by the online crowds on the left and right but most Americans are far focused other matters that they feel relate more directly to their lives. People like JD Vance and apparently Gavin Newsom seem more focused on the terminally online crowd.
General opposition to the American-Israeli relationship though is something that would be opposed by many mainstream voters who understand the national security benefits America gains from this relationship as well as the longstanding bipartisan humanitarian tradition of supporting Israel. It all goes far beyond “The Jews.” Appealing to extremists, whether on the far-left or far-right would be bad politics in any general election. I guess it remains to be seen though what issues wind up dominating the primaries.
Newsom seems to be a shameless panderer though who has no real core convictions who has already gone through about three different version of himself since the 2024 election. There will probably be more versions to come. That alone is why I think he will flop as a Presidential candidate.
