The person to watch IS California Governor Gavin Newsom….
Former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg is leading the 2028 Democratic field for president in New Hampshire, according to a new poll from the University of New Hampshire.
Nineteen percent in the Granite State Poll backed Buttigieg, who ran for president in 2020 in the Democratic primary and later notched a spot in former President Biden’s administration, leading the Department of Transportation. California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) came in second behind Buttigieg in the poll, with 15 percent support.
There has been a heated debate among Democrats on how to move forward from the chaotic 2024 election cycle, which featured former President Biden bowing out of the race after a disastrous debate performance, assassination attempts on President Trump and former Vice President Harris stepping into the race on short notice.
Harris herself earned 11 percent backing in the New Hampshire poll among the prospective 2028 candidates.
Some left-leaning Democrats have pushed for their party to lean more in their direction, while some centrists have blamed the left wing for recent electoral losses…..

The interesting things in this REAL EARLY POLL is that Newsom is in Second place….
Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez is in Third place ….
Kamala Harris is in Fourth place….
Lets remember….
New Hamsphire is SMALL state with scant amount’s of minorities….
The results show a LEFT leaning race for the nomination, something a LOT of Democrats think WAS a BIG mistake last November in giving Trump a second term…..
Democrats ARE gonna have to work hard to get a candidate to run coming out of the Trump Presidency…
The sweet spot probably is NOT on the left….

james may not believe this but to the sort of voter he is worried about who cares about this sort of thing in 2025, Newsom comes across as “gayer” than Pete.
U think Pate can be elected President?
In my view, he would be a stronger general election candidate than Newsom, at the least.
I’m back from my morning walk in which I thought about your view….
Yesterday evening coming back from work in the car with my son he played a piuece from Newsom….
It was STRONG, Direct and profane AGAINST Trump and his actions….
I WAS Impressed….
This wasn’t Biden, Obama, Clinton or even Harris….
Certainly not Pete….
THIS IS Something Democrats NEED to step TO the Trump’s ‘I don’t give a FUCK’ about the rules, law or norms….
For me?
NOBODY in the early poll HAS THAT ….
Pete as a VP?
Sure….
But I feel GOPer’s would use him as a distraction…
How about someone with a strong, demonstrable record of accomplishments and as little personal and political baggage as possible?
It seems like such a candidate would be in the best position to win over the Trump voters that the next President will have to win in the swing states. Someone who has achieved political success and won elections in less than guaranteed circumstances. Also of course, such a person might also actually make the best President.
I would think someone like Governor Beshear or Governor Shapiro might best fit that profile. I have also gone on the record in saying that if the African-American community rallies behind a candidate, such as Wes Moore, that such person might be hard to stop. I think Buttigieg and Newsom would both struggle appealing to black voters in the primary.
Buttigieg’s experience is very lacking in the eyes of many, but is a strong communicator. However, Newsom just reeks of insincerity to many as if he is willing to be all things to all people. He also has a *ton* of personal baggage and what might be a difficult record in California to defend.
Needless to say, whomever your party nominates will be well to the left of me.
While I can agree on some of your reasoning….
The issue IS getting the job FIRST….
Shapiro, Moore, Bashear and Prittzer HAVE excutive backgrounds…
Buttigieg has shown he can do the job ….
BUT?
Ya HAVE to GET the job first ….
Newsom HAS Executive experience
AND?
The SHOWN Ability to counter Trump and Vance and dfraw HEADLINES in doing so….
For me?
That makes the deal Right Now….
