This Dog has been saying this for a while…
Donald is just screwing things stuff up on his own….
And?
He’s probably gonna drag ‘HIS” party down with him….
Homeland money is in limbo and Trump WILL have to go to Congress to replenish money for the Very Unpopular Iran War effort …
The same Congress that will be looking for their OWN job approval from voters beginning in less that Six Months…
Donald Trump is torching the coalition that made him president, seemingly unaware of — or simply unconcerned by — the depth of discontent permeating his movement.
Why it matters: Trump won back the White House with the most eclectic alliance in modern politics — a blend of MAGA diehards, crypto evangelists, nonwhite men, podcast bros, anti-war populists and culture-war Christians.
- What Republicans celebrated as a once-in-a-generation coalition may turn out to be exactly that, never to be reassembled.
Zoom in: Over the last two weeks, Trump has tested the loyalty of MAGA’s Christian base with a series of extraordinary provocations.
- It began on Easter, when Trump threatened to bomb Iran’s power plants and bridges in a profanity-laced Truth Social post, and signed off with “Praise be to Allah.”
- Two days later, he warned Iran that “a whole civilization will die tonight” — appalling some of his closest former allies, including Tucker Carlson, Alex Jones and Candace Owens.
- On Sunday night, Trump attacked Pope Leo XIV — the first American-born pope — as “WEAK on Crime, and terrible for Foreign Policy,” furious that Leo had condemned his threats against the people of Iran.
Within the hour, Trump posted an AI-generated image of himself as a Christ-like figure — healing a bedridden man, flanked by bald eagles and the American flag.
- The image drew rare condemnation from MAGA loyalists, including allegations of blasphemy and even demonic possession.
- Trump deleted the post Monday morning, telling reporters: “It’s supposed to be me as a doctor, making people better. And I do make people better.”
Between the lines: Catholics, who make up roughly a fifth of the U.S. population, are America’s most powerful swing religious bloc. Trump’s attacks on the pope — who is far more popular than he is — could prove self-destructive in the midterms….
…
Senate Republicans facing worsening polls want President Trump to rein in his extreme rhetoric, which included an attack on Pope Leo XIV for being “WEAK on crime” and a threat to wipe out Iran’s civilization, and find a quick end to the conflict with Tehran.
GOP lawmakers are used to Trump’s hyperbolic style but want to distance themselves from his most incendiary comments as polls show Democrats have improving chances of picking up Republican-held seats in North Carolina, Ohio and Nebraska….
…
Giorgia Meloni, the prime minister of Italy, on Monday called Trump’s criticism of the pope “unacceptable,” and Democrats on Capitol Hill loudly condemned his comments.
“Donald Trump reached a new low when he insulted Pope Leo,” Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (N.Y.) said on the Senate floor.
Schumer also ripped Trump for posting on social media an AI-generated image of himself as a Christlike figure healing a sick man.
Thune, when asked about Trump’s use of Christlike imagery to promote himself, quickly noted that the image had been taken down.
Several other Republicans said they were glad that Trump removed the potentially offensive image from his posts..
…
“I did post it, and I thought it was me as a doctor, and had to do with the Red Cross, as a Red Cross worker there, which we support,” Trump told reporters outside of the Oval Office.
Trump’s bombshell post on Truth Social jabbing at the pope came a few days after he threatened to wipe out Iranian civilization.
“A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back,” Trump mused on Truth Social….
…
Given growing concerns among GOP colleagues about how much longer the conflict may last, Senate Republican leaders have decided not to attempt to pass additional funding for the strikes against Iran in a budget reconciliation package they plan to bring to the floor as soon as next week.
Thune told reporters Monday that Senate Republicans will move a “skinny” budget resolution and acknowledged that there will likely need to be a more formal declaration by Congress before a major tranche of military funding can move forward….
“…for awhile “
What he doesn’t tell you is that” awhile “ is since Trumps election in 2016.
Indeed his “ prediction “ of imminent doom for Trump is a long running joke here.
I mean any damn fool knows that sooner or later a political figure, particularly one as controversial as Trump ,will start to shed support. No surprise there.I remember ribbing him several years back that his sometimes daily “ prediction “ of Trump losing support would keep on and when his inevitable decline began he would start bragging about how “ right” he was.
And here we are a mere 10 years later and we have him pretty much doing that!
Surprise!
FACT?…..
Donald IS and HAS been LOSING support around the edges as this Dog has been saying….
And others say…..
Also…..
And the idiots are going to go down with him
‘They’re not getting what they voted for’: Jesus meme lays bare GOP frustrations with Trump
The president’s attacks on the first American pope and a deleted Jesus meme are deepening fractures within his MAGA coalition….
….
To some, the Jesus meme — which Trump later said was never meant to liken him to Jesus but was instead supposed to depict the president as a Red Cross worker — exhausted whatever goodwill remained.
“They’re not getting what they voted for to begin with. On top of that, whether he’s mocking their religion intentionally or not, he still is,” said Erick Erickson, a conservative radio host and an influential voice with evangelical voters central to the MAGA base. “I think we are looking not really at a MAGA crack-up per se, but a lot of the base becoming exasperated enough to start looking beyond Trump.”
The recriminations come as the president works to hold together his coalition ahead of the midterms — and as some allies warn that the divisions risk hastening his lame duck status….
