The Cuomo and Mamdani ARE beginning to throw at each other….
And?
The Media seems to be swinging to Cuomo to get a horse race going….
A long-running campaign fight over New York City’s soaring housing costs reignited this week around an unlikely spark: the $2,300-a-month rent-stabilized apartment occupied by Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic nominee for mayor.
It began Friday afternoon, when his leading rival, former Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo, unexpectedly attacked Mr. Mamdani, who makes $142,000 as a state assemblyman, for occupying an affordable unit in Astoria, Queens, that he said should go to a needier New Yorker.
By Tuesday, the broadside had escalated into a multiday war of words that put Mr. Mamdani, the front-runner in the race, on the defensive and highlighted the candidates’ competing visions for how to bring down runaway costs in one of the world’s most expensive cities.
The particulars were bitterly personal. Mr. Cuomo accused Mr. Mamdani of “callous theft” and proposed a new law named after him to means-test who can live in the city’s roughly one million rent-stabilized units. Mr. Mamdani called it “petty vindictiveness” and blamed the former governor and the real estate developers who fund Mr. Cuomo’s campaigns for the city’s housing shortage….
…
New York City’s mayoral race is heating up, with Zohran Mamdani, the young progressive who leapt ahead of establishment figures in the primary to win the Democratic party nomination, appearing to widen his lead over his main rivals this week.
Mamdani, 33, edged further ahead of the former New York state governor Andrew Cuomo, with the incumbent mayor, Eric Adams, far behind, in advance of the election this November to pick a leader for the largest city in the US.
In a metropolis that leans Democratic, he was also far ahead of the Republican talkshow host Curtis Sliwa, and also another independent, the sky-diving former federal prosecutor Jim Walden.
According to a poll released on Tuesday, Mamdani, who has been endorsed by fellow leftwingers on the national stage such as Senator Bernie Sanders and Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, held a 19-point lead over Cuomo, his nearest rival.
It was however, a small-scale survey, in which the Siena poll sampled just 317 registered voters and cited an unusually wide 6.7% margin of error.
Mamdani is a Muslim, which garnered some negative attacks ahead of the primary, and a member of the Democrat Socialists of America’s nine-member “State Socialists in Office” bloc in New York’s state assembly.
Cuomo had been expected to win the Democratic primary, but despite his almost universal name recognition, he was beaten after being weighed down by an overly conventional campaign and a damaged political past having resigned as governor in a torrent of accusations of sexual harassment and bullying on the job.
Mamdani was deemed on Tuesday by Siena to be 32 points ahead of Sliwa and held a 37-point lead over Adams, who has been plagued by allegations of corruption.
With Mamdani as the candidate to beat, his credentials are now under attack and he has just four years under his belt as a state legislator….

I hate to say it and would hope to be wrong but I think Mamdani is going to win easily now. It cannot be understated how disliked and distrusted Cuomo is, and for good reason. It is an historical travesty that an entire city could not produce a better option to stop Mamdani.
The fact is that in a city like New York, the promises of a socialist have a lot of appeal. It is the same political factor that makes Trump so popular in other parts of the country. Who doesn’t want to be told that whatever struggles they are going through are not their responsibility? A lot of people just want free stuff and do not understand the complexities of what government is and is not capable of doing.
Plus, being anti-Semitic or at the least tolerant of anti-Semitism has become quite acceptable for so many in America again.
A update on the last poll points to the poll having a 6.9 MOE and being only 700+ respondents…..
Cuomo has just started to get into the campaign….
media HAS definatly swung back TO Cuomo NOT wanting a blow-out….
As I pointed out here….
Younger voters who don’t make what Mamdani odes will vote foR Him….
Older vores making more money and having a ‘Piece of the Rock’ will NOT vote for someone wanting to tax them to give people ‘Free’ stuff…..
The apt rent thing will lose Mamdani some votes…..
Adams Is NOT gonna win anything….
If not for Cuomo a lot more “older voters” might be alive to vote.
Cuomo is NOT well liked….
But?
Absent his woman issues?
He WAS a DAMN Good Governor….
The other guy wasn’t even able to vote….
Yes, absent those pesky sexual assault and sexual harassment distractions which people should just forget about…
Actually no though, his record was horrific on many fronts, especially the death of so many senior citizens in nursing homes during Covid who died necessarily because of his policies.
What other guy wasn’t able to vote? Mamdani? I know he said he was not going to vote for Harris, but I am not sure what you are getting at. What I recall is that you said on several occasions you disliked Cuomo when he was Governor and would not vote for him. Now he was “DAMN Good.”
Ah?
Andrew Cuomo ain’t a Convicted Felon…He don’t owe NYS $500M….He don’t owe a woman $5M+ for ssexual misconduct, eH?
Trump and Cuomo are both criminals. People like that about Trump and dislike that about Cuomo. What are you gonna do?
Trump IS a CONVICTED Criminal
