Hamas leader Khalil al-Hayya has said the militant group will release six living Israeli hostages on Saturday in exchange for hundreds of Palestinian prisoners held by Israel. Campaign group the Hostages and Missing Families Forum published the names on Tuesday of six Israelis held in Gaza due to be released on Saturday under a fragile Israel-Hamas truce deal. They are Eliya Cohen, Tal Shoham, Omer Shem Tov, Omer Wenkert, Hisham Al-Sayed, and Avera Mengistu.

Phase 2 Of the Hamas/Israeli cease-fire
The foreign minister of Israel’s far-right government, Gideon Saar, has said negotiations to begin the second phase of the ceasefire on Gaza will go ahead. During his press briefing, Saar said: ‘We had yesterday night a security cabinet meeting. We decided to open negotiations on the second phase. It will happen this week.’
Talks on the second phase of the ceasefire were meant to begin on 3 February to ensure a smooth transition from phase one, which ends at the beginning of March. The second phase would involve Israel accepting a permanent end to fighting and the release of its remaining hostages.
Saar said Israel would not accept the Palestinian Authority’s presence in Gaza while Hamas still operated as an armed group in the territory….

A Syrian Defense Forces (SDF) commander stated that the SDF and the governing body in northeast Syria agreed to merge their forces into the Syrian Defense Ministry on February 17. A commander within the Northern Democratic Brigade—a faction of the SDF—said that the SDF, the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), and the Syrian Democratic Council (SDF) agreed to merge SDF and AANES-affiliated security forces into the Syrian army after discussion on February 17 about negotiations with Damascus.
