As the rematch between Joe Biden and Donald Trump draws nearer, political professionals are detecting an unusual concern among some undecided voters: that if Trump returns to the White House, he’ll refuse to step down when his term is up.
Seiji Carpenter, vice president at David Binder Research, noticed this fear in early April while conducting focus groups of people who had voted for Biden in 2020 but became disillusioned and were considering switching sides. “We were talking to Latino men and Asian American-Pacific Islander women in battleground states,” Carpenter recalls, “and they went straight to the issue of, what if Trump won’t give up power?”…

Nikki apparently thinks she still has a future in national Republican politics and understands that Trump owns the Republican Party and those that oppose him don’t have a future .

The old guard barely held on at the Republican state convention a few weeks ago with the MAGA candidates for party officers garnering over 40% of the votes.Nikki did not attend.
She has no relationship to speak off with any statewide office holders.( I bet she rues the day she appointed Scott to the Senate) She could run for Governor again I guess but she is widely disliked by the Republican leadership in the legislature.

She’s planning to run for President in 2028 as either the “see, I told you he couldn’t win but I still went ahead and was loyal to the party” or “he won because I supported him and brought all those voters with me” candidate.
Or maybe she thinks something still happens between now and this summer’s convention.

Maybe Haley thinks the 30% of the suburban GOP primary vote she is getting in primaries long after she dropped out is indicative of future strength in another Presidential race.
It isn’t. It’s simply anti Trump sentiment among normally Republican voters who are uncomfortable with Trump’s crimes and the party’s forced birth and ban od birth control and IVF antics.
If she’s already running?
Why would any channel cept Fox employ her?

With the exception of Sarah Palin (and not entirely sure about Dan Quayle),not one living person other than Trump who has been a Republican nominee for President or Vice President will be supporting him.
I would be surprised if Quayle supports Trump.
Pence said that he consulted Quayle as to what he could do as Trump and the MAGA crowd were trying to intimidate him into stealing electoral votes. According to Pence, Quayle threw old water on the whole scheme and told him to do his ministerial duty and count the legal votes.
Interesting sidelight…In 1988 when Bush chose Quayle as his running mate and the piling on began as to him being a lightweight,it was ,of all people ,Teddy Kennedy who dissented and called Quayle a serious legislator and recounted how they had worked together on some bills and that even when they opposed each other that Quayle always did his homework and that the belittling of him wasn’t justified.
