Israeli strikes that killed seven World Central Kitchen workers in Gaza earlier this week were “carried out in serious violation” of the military’s procedures and were a “grave mistake stemming from a serious failure due to a mistaken identification” of vehicles as carrying Hamas operatives, according to the findings of an Israeli military investigation released Friday. The aid group has emphasized that its convoy had coordinated its route with Israeli military officials. The United States wants Israel to make changes “to ensure that something like this can never happen again,” Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in remarks Friday, and is “looking to see not just what steps are being taken but the results that follow from them.”
