The mass shootings WILL continue in America….

Shootings within three Atlanta-area massage parlors that unfolded within an hour on Tuesday left eight people dead, and authorities said a 21-year-old man has been arrested.

Atlanta police said they found four women — who all appeared to be Asian — dead inside two massage parlors across the street from each other. Sheriff’s officials in nearby Cherokee County said four people were killed and one more injured at an Asian massage parlor there, declining to provide the victims’ races and genders.

Cherokee County Sheriff’s Capt. Jay Baker said Robert Aaron Long, a resident of the county, was taken into custody south of Atlanta in Crisp County. Atlanta police said that based on video evidence, Long is the likely suspect in the shootings at the other two massage parlors, although they are still working to confirm a connection…

  1. All mass shootings are not alike (as JB’s headline seems to imply).

    This one seems to be the result (in a deranged mind) of the conscious stirring-up of latent prejudice against Asians.

    • I agree mass shooting are different….

      But on the whole?

      They do reinforce the gun culture of America….

  2. It is disturbing to see this relatively new prejudice against Asians escalating. I recall a conversation I had with an Asian expat co-worker about two years and he told me of the racism he experienced in the US. I was embarrassed and a little surprised.

    And of course mass shootings will continue in the US because we are failing to do anything that will even reduce their frequency or severity. It is another example of the US being unwilling or unable to confront its problems.

      Americans like their guns!

      See that means nothing should be done to at least make it a little less likely .Nothing!

      Of course one could say Americans like their marijuana.

      See that means those who do should be prosecuted.

      It just depends what ones “like” is ,

      • I had forgotten how James used to talk about theFederal Government was about to come cracking down on marijuana and go after stores in states that had legalized it. He hasn’t said it in awhile.

        I think there is now only 3 states where marijuana is illegal in all forms and under all circumstances: Idaho, Nebraska and one other state.

          Grass IS STILL considered a ‘dangerous drug’ on the Federal level….

          The states are increasingly legalising recreational use and MAKING MONEY something I DID point out….

          I do not know if the Fed’s have a policy of leaving the banks alone that deal with marijuana money….

          But YES….

          It DOES appear the horse has left the barn on this…

          Unless some President comes along against this….

          Things are moving along….

      • That reminds me that I hadn’t shared a relatively recent experience I had with a marijuana edible. It was my first experience with edibles.

        I had just had surgery and was prescribed opioids and so I asked my physician if I could take marijuana instead. So I bought some chocolate edibles. I took one and waited for some reaction, but nothing happened. So after about 45 minutes I took a second one. What a mistake!

        I became paranoid. I became confused as to where I was. I couldn’t concentrate to even a small degree. I became thirsty beyond belief. And had the most God-awful trip I experienced in my life.

        Next time, if there is a next time, I will only take 1/2 an edible.

        Gun Control is dead issue for Democrats….

        It get’s little traction except for some occasional media attention…

        America’s DO love their guns and are NOT giving up their access to them…

        Gun ownership HAS climbed….

        I’m NOT defending anything except the FACT’s….

        • During the 2020 campaign, Biden did aggressively advocate Gun Control. And while the pandemic is probably not the time to propose legislation, I am hopeful he will take some action later in his term.

            James is opposed to that.

            He lacks the intellectual (if that word should be used when talking about him) honesty to admit that he is opposes any type of gun legislation so he hides behind his “facts.”

            Look we all know the difficulty in passing gun control legislation so the last thing we need is a lecture on such from the likes of him.However, as you can see, he is Opposed to any effort to do anything.Why?Because he himself is against it.

            See in Jamesworld,nothing ever changes and people should never attempt to do anything about those matters he’s not interested in,i e,Guns.Notice none of his well known “editorial comments” expressing regret or advocating any reforms?

            Accordingly,his “ain’t gonna happen” routine that we see on any issue of substance or ,in this instance,”The Mass Shootings Will Continue In America.”

            His message?STFU and watch the blood flow!

  3. I’m not sure why James considers himself a Democrat. He opposes most environmental actions. He opposes actions to reduce Gun violence. He supports the US military getting involved in discretionary wars around the world. He opposes national healthcare. Did I miss anything?

  4. According to the Sheriff the shooter “had a bad day”.

    I’ve volunteered countless hours with local law enforcement over the years but when I hear a LEO say something like that it’s no wonder some people want to “defund the police”

    White guy kills 8 women of color, says he has a sex addiction and he’s not racist and the Sheriff investigating says he “had a bad day”.

    Who the hell is this asshole protecting or serving?

    • My experience is that police are often their own worst enemy.

      The above is a good example.

      • I agree. Most cops are great public servants. But those like the Sheriff in Georgia do far more damage to the reputation of police than protesters do.

        • Not in any way to diminish any of the remarks above, but I think that those fighting police abuse of civilians were similarly their own worst enemies when they came up with the stunningly self-defeating slogan “Defund the Police”.

          • Most official’s have ignored the defund part…

            There have been efforts to try and get cops to deescalate situations and be a bit less ‘gung-ho’ all the time….

            Cop’s job is STILL a tough one…

            Lot of people don’t know that last years semo’s made a lot of cop’s a good amount of overtime pay….

            Few if any sensible official’s are gonna cut back their police ….

            Especially with crime going up during the pandemic

          One bad apple spoils things for the while bunch…

          And just most coos want to do
          Their job and go home to their families everynite

  5. I work with several Police Departments.

    Based on that experience ,I would estimate that around 10% of police officers have no business in this line of work.

    Unfortunately ,police work often attracts some “bullies.” Just as unfortunately,Police Departments often find themselves with slim pickings in prospective officers.Also finding qualified minority candidates presents another hurdle.

    Being a police officer is demanding and stressful work and the attrition rate is often high.

    Once again ,based on my experience ,we are often lucky that Police Departments function as well as they do.
