President/National
Biden-Polling: Stuart Rothenberg looks at the relative stability of former Vice President Joe Biden (D)’s lead over President Donald Trump (R-MAGA) and how the race is probably not as close as some are claiming based on the polling.
Shooting Yourself in the Foot: Republican strategists are worried that President Trump’s constant attacks on mail-in voting is going to leave them at a disadvantage in future elections as Republican confidence in the practice continues to decline. Historically mail-in voting has not favored one party over another on a whole, but it appears the recent broad acceptance by Democrats while rejection by Republicans might change that pattern.
West-MAGA: Kanye West (???) has submitted signatures to get on the ballot in Illinois. Lets see if his signatures are sufficient and make it through the challenge period without substantive objections. The Kardashians are busy trying to stop West’s bipolar driven campaign that includes West not just making a vanity run for President, but trashing his curated corporate branding, threatening to divorce his wife, and making contradictory remarks on whether they talked about aborting their first child or not. We can all hope that Kanye gets the help he needs.
Biden-Taxes: Back to Biden, who appears to be sane and rational compared to his opponents even though he is past his prime, rolled out a $775 billion child and elder care plan to be paid for by taxes on real estate investments for high-income earners and better enforcement on higher income brackets.
Cancel Culture: Politico/Morning Consult have a survey out showing that many Americans are concerned about the “cancel culture” and think it has gone too far. Someone needs to run on nationalizing Twitter and then immediately shutting it down.
Face Mask Mandates: 72% of registered voters support state face mask mandates punishable by fines and jail time according to Morning Consult. That includes 86% of Democrats, 68% of independents, and 58% of Republicans….

Larry Hogan in his new book says he almost challenged Trump this year.
Good thing for him he didn’t.
He wouldn’t have done much better that Walsh and Weld and would have looked rather ridiculous.
Scott P says
I saw that. Apparently he was readying himself for Trump’s possible nicknames—which he thought might be “Fat Larry” (even though Trump is clearly obese himself) or “Cancer Boy”
Hey Larry–there’s a guy who lost his son to the same disease you have fought who would never ever dream of calling you that nickname. I hope you endorse him.

A few days ago I said that I didn’t consider Hogan a serious candidate for President in 2024 when he’s hinted he might run.
A better choice of words would have been ,I don’t consider him a serious candidate to win the nomination.
He will be taken seriously by the media for sure as his issue stands will likely contrast with the rest of the Republican field who will be uniformly Right Wing.

I agree that Hogan is actually already a media favorite that has little serious chance
Scott P says
Yeah, as I said before I see him as the Jon Huntsmen of the next cycle.
A lot of favorable press but little chance at actually winning the nomination or even a primary.
And this would be true whether or not he endorses Biden this year
