The NY Times rolls out a piece that does the numbers against the Trump & Co effort to sell that there would be TONS of noncitizens voting against them at the polls..
The Story IS a Straight Out Lie…..
Another effort by Trump to suppress the American vote for his and his parties effort to stay in power….
While President Trump has claimed that noncitizens voted en masse and even tipped the scales in recent elections, research from partisan and nonpartisan groups alike has shown that instances of noncitizen voting are so rare that they have never been significant enough to change the outcome of an election.
Investigations into noncitizen voting have historically followed a pattern. First, state or federal election officials report that hundreds or thousands of noncitizens may be on their voter lists. After further review, the figures often shrink to dozens. Each inquiry ends with few, if any, prosecutions.
“We keep finding the same story over and over and over again, which is very, very small numbers,” said Christopher Mann, the research director at the Center for Election Innovation and Research in Washington, which tracks reports of ineligible voting….

Election officials regularly check their voter lists for ineligible voters and either remove them or refer them to prosecutors. But Trump administration officials have said that the government will find more of these cases if it simply looks harder, and they have launched a robust campaign to root out voter fraud. In recent weeks, federal prosecutors have brought charges against dozens of people.
“We’re just getting started,” Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin said in late September.
The Department of Homeland Security has assigned hundreds of agents to hunt for noncitizens on state voting lists, and it has begun investigating nonprofits it says may be recruiting noncitizens to vote. Justice Department leaders have threatened state election officials with criminal charges if noncitizens cast ballots in their states.
Even so, the administration’s claims of large-scale voter fraud have not stood up to scrutiny. Election officials and experts say federal investigators have relied on matching names from voter lists to a massive federal database, when both sources may be incomplete or out of date.
People who recently became naturalized citizens, for example, can be flagged as false positives….

The federal government has traditionally been more reliant on states to handle voter fraud. During the Biden administration, court records show, federal prosecutors charged 13 people.
Research shows that earlier convictions for noncitizen voter fraud were exceedingly rare. The Heritage Foundation identified 71criminal convictions nationwide for noncitizen voting between 2000 and 2025.
It is possible that a larger number of noncitizens may register to vote or cast a ballot and never be prosecuted for voter fraud. State election officials sometimes remove potential noncitizens from voter lists without bringing charges against them. Prosecutors typically have to prove that people knowingly registered or voted to win a conviction.
But noncitizens often appear on voter rolls because of mistakes rather than an intention to commit fraud, researchers and voting rights advocates say….
