He’s out with a wish to get Gulf countries to pony up money for a fund to rebuild the energy infrastructure that Iran and America has been bombing….
Pure Donald…..
Stuck with his Iran War?
Go with the MONEY angle…..
(He tried the same pitch for Gaza….A Resort Area?)
This ain’t going anywhere if Iran ain’t happy….
And?
It won’t get around the importance of the Strait of Hormuz and Red Sea passage…..
This IS Trump admitting his gamble with the war has NOT worked and has actually HELPED Iran gain leverage in the Gulf…
Oh?
Trump wants this idea to be managed by the US, so America gets a fee……
The Trump administration is proposing investing $5 billion in a fund that would help Middle East countries rebuild their energy infrastructure following the Iran War, the Wall Street Journal reported.
The goal would be to have the countries reduce their reliance on the Strait of Hormuz for transporting oil and gas, the Journal reported.
The U.S. would seek matching contributions from eight Middle Eastern countries: Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Iraq, and Jordan, hoping to establish a $10 billion investment fund.
The investment would be called the Partnership for Allied Trust and Construction, or Pact.
Officials told the Journal that creating the fund before a peace deal was established with Iran would be premature, since Iran could target fresh infrastructure with drones and missiles.
The fund would be managed by the Development Finance Corporation, a federal agency that works with the private sector to support U.S. national-security policy.
Development Finance Corporation typically works with developing nations.
The Iran War led to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and is also threatening trade routes on the Red Sea, key routes for getting oil out, leading to higher gas prices, while countries in the Middle East are working to establish alternative energy routes.
“There seems to be a realization within all Arab Gulf states and even in Iraq that the status of the Strait of Hormuz in the short to medium term will not revert back to what it was before the conflict,”…..
