Minnesota had the guy held for state charges on a shooting in Minneapolis in January that left a Venezuelan man shot….
(ICE also had a witness of the shooting , with a child, moved around , away from Minnesota , that a judge eventually ordered released and which ICE finally dropped any charges against from the encounter….)
The courts had him released….
He’s been indicted. Federally….

An Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer has been indicted on charges that he repeatedly lied to the FBI as it investigated a shooting in Minneapolis in January that left a Venezuelan man wounded.
Christian Castro was indicted Wednesday on six counts for making false statements to federal officials, according to a person familiar with the case who was granted anonymity because it remained under seal.
The newly filed federal case does not include any charge against Castro for the shooting of Julio Cesar Sosa-Celis at a home in the city amid a surge in federal immigration enforcement.
Earlier this week, a federal prosecutor reportedly told lawyers for Sosa-Celis and another man at the scene that night, Alfredo Aljorna, that the U.S. attorney for Minnesota and officials at Justice Department headquarters were blocking a more serious civil rights charge against Castro.
“This is being directed by the Main Justice and the US Attorney,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew Evans wrote, according to ProPublica. “I objected in the strongest possible terms and fought it as hard as I could. It wasn’t enough.”
However, the person who spoke with POLITICO said there has been no decision to reject civil rights charges in the case.
“The civil rights investigation is very much ongoing,” the person said. “No decision has been made. There are no decisions that have ever been made about that.”
The shooting led to a cascade of consequences that played out against the backdrop of intensifying conflict between ICE officers and Minnesota residents…..

Local prosecutors charged Castro in Hennepin County court in Minneapolis in May with state crimes of making a false statement and assault. Castro was in Texas, leading to another legal imbroglio after Gov. Greg Abbott (R-Texas) broke with precedent by delaying approval of extradition paperwork for the suspect.
Gov. Tim Walz (D-Minn.) filed suit against Abbott to try to force the extradition but a federal judge declined to issue such an order.
After 90 days in a Texas jail in connection with the extradition, Castro was released last week. Federal law enforcement was attempting to locate him Thursday to take him into custody…..
