Trump and Co. are NOT following the Federal judges order….
The Trump administration barred journalists from CNN, MS NOW and Politico from entering the White House grounds on Thursday morning, hours after a federal judge ordered the immediate restoration of their access.
It was not initially clear if the administration was intentionally defying the judge’s order, or if the journalists had been blocked because of confusion among security personnel. Judge Timothy J. Kelly of the U.S. District Court in Washington issued his order overnight, at around 1 a.m. Eastern.
Lawyers for the three outlets have requested an immediate hearing on the matter, saying they did not receive a response from the Trump administration on Thursday morning. Judge Kelly has ordered the Trump administration to respond by 12:30 p.m.
The White House did not respond to a request for comment.
The ongoing standoff has generated a bizarre spectacle. President Trump is meeting at the White House with China’s top leader, Xi Jinping, the kind of high-stakes diplomatic summit that would typically be carried live on every news station.
Instead, no major American network is airing footage of the two global leaders.
Mr. Trump’s ban on the three outlets prompted the major networks to suspend the White House television pool, which usually serves as the main source of video footage for presidential events. As of Thursday morning, the TV pool had not resumed.
A crew from ABC, which had been scheduled to provide footage on Thursday, was stationed at the White House in case the ban was lifted. But the crew has stood down while the three outlets remain barred from the grounds….
