How it Works
We assign delegates based on a simplified version of the 2024 Democratic Primary rules. In each state, candidates must clear at least 15% of the vote to win any delegates. To calculate which candidates cleared the threshold, we remove all undecided voters, and then determine each candidate’s share of the remaining vote. Candidates that cleared 15% win a share of the state’s delegates equal to the share of the vote they won, relative to other candidates that also cleared the 15% threshold.
In our simplified version, all delegates are assigned purely based on the statewide polling. In reality, over half the delegates in most states are assigned by the results of each Congressional district – but we only rarely have polling by CD, so we’re using the state polling to simplify things.
Once we get closer to the actual primary, each state party will pass new rules for the 2028 primary, and we will adopt them in the delegate tracker. Finally, keep in mind that Presidential primaries are fluid, and the polling will change frequently. From time to time, a candidate that starts out with under 5% support emerges as the nominee.
