“The 81-year-old pundit argued the ‘Squad’ congresswoman’s politics are too far-left for Democratic presidential primary voters, who have historically backed more moderate candidates.”
Said Carville: “Let me say something very clearly: The Democrats — not even in ’72 — never nominate the most liberal candidate. But that’s the fantasy of the right wing, that the Democrats are going to nominate a socialist, urbanist, whatever.”

The Trump Chaos Protocol Continues….
The special primary to take Lindsay Grahams place as the Republican senatorial candidate has gotten pretty confused.
Gov. Henry McMaster appointed Grahams sister to serve out his term but the assumed understanding was she was just a placeholder .Now, however, Trump has endorsed her as his chosen candidate in the upcoming primary and Sen, Tim Scott has said” why not her?”Graham herself has made no public pronouncements although word is she has expressed private interest in running.
So far only two others are making overt moves as possible candidates ,former Gov. Mark Sanford and Cong. Ralph Norman ,an unsuccessful candidate for Governor back in June.( two other announced candidates Mark Lynch ,who ran against Graham in June, and Black lawyer Duke Buckner are not serious contenders) .
Former Congressman and Fox News commentator Trey Gowdy continues to generate interest.
Filing is open for one week beginning Monday.

South Carolina Senate poll shows surprising frontrunner: Trey Gowdy
Gowdy has said he’s not interested. But the poll suggests he would lead a crowded field, which includes the Trump-endorsed Darline Graham, for late Sen. Lindsey Graham’s seat.
I mentioned earlier that Gowdy would be a formidable candidate if he entered the race.He has ,however, strayed from the Trump line and indeed has been critical of some of his actions.
Many think Gowdy sort of never recovered from his chairmanship of the so called “ Benghazi committee,” a Republican effort to “ get” Hillary Clinton during the Obama years.
The effort was widely derided,Gowdy even seemed to regret his role in it and shortly thereafter left Congress with some openly critical remarks about the whole institution.
Still, he has remained popular with a large segment of the SC Republican Party and would be a formidable candidate if he was to run.
If he runs…..

So the field is set for the Republican special primary to replace the deceased Lindsay Graham as the candidate in November.
Nine candidates’qualified” although that itself is controversial because the “ conservative “ party disqualified three other candidates for reasons that applied to Lindsay’s sister as well.
Anyway only four of the bunch can be considered ‘ serious.” The sister ,of course ,endorsed by Trump.The two Congressmen,Ralph Norman who came in third in the Gubernatorial primary in June and Russell Fry,who represents the area up around Myrtle Beach.Then there is former Governor Mark Sanford.
There is likely to be a runoff since it is unlikely anyone will get 50% plus one on the initial balloting.Despite Trumps imprimatur,the sister still isn’t polling that well .Trump probably wouldn’t mind if Fry got the win as he is a loyal supporter.
Not so Norman, who supported Nikki Haley against him in 2024 or Sanford who briefly ran against him in 2020.No clear favorite at the moment.

Four South Carolina Republicans seeking the late Sen. Lindsey Graham’s (R-S.C.) spot on the November ballot faced off on the debate stage for a second straight night Tuesday.
Hosted by Nexstar Media Group, The Hill’s parent company, the debate gave Reps. Russell Fry (R-S.C.) and Ralph Norman (R-S.C.), former Rep. Mark Sanford (R-S.C.) and businessman Mark Lynch the chance to duke it out just one day before early voting starts in the special GOP primary.
