Paxton( R) has slight 1% lead over Talarico (D) in this 6/23/2026 poll….
Of course Texas IS a VERY RED state….
The latest University of Texas/Texas Politics Project Poll finds a neck and neck contest in the U.S. Senate race between Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and State Representative James Talarico, with Paxton the choice of 43% of Texas voters and Talarico preferred by a statistically indistinguishable 42%. Republicans hold larger single-digit leads in the other major races for statewide offices: Gov. Greg Abbott led Democratic State Representative Gina Hinojosa by a 7-point margin, 47% to 40%…
Note….
The poll has a MOE of up to 3.47%….
So?
Things are VERY CLOSE….
The Texas Policy Project is worth consulting directly, as it has a huge, vast amount of poll results on other candidates, issues and opinions about abortion, Donald Trump’s fitness for office, how welcoming are the parties, the Iran war, the economy and several other interesting topics.
On many issues, there is a huge approve/disapprove differential between Democrats and Republicans on several of these topics, with independents tending to be more negative (but less so than Democrats).
There’s also a clear disagreement between urban, suburban and rural voters about A.I. data centers in their communities.
