THAT is confirmed by US President Trump and the Iranian Foreign Minister….
They say it will REMAIN open for as long as the cease fire remains?
Trump says that Iran’s ports ARE STILL being blocked from sea traffic….
WHAT DID Trump get from this?
Beside a probable drop in Oil prices?
- U.S. President Donald Trump and Iran’s foreign minister said Friday that the Strait of Hormuz is now fully open to commercial vessels. Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi posted on X that the strait “is declared completely open” in line with the ceasefire in Lebanon and would remain open for the remaining period of the ceasefire. Trump affirmed the strait is “ready for full passage” in a social media post minutes later.
- In a subsequent post, Trump said the U.S. naval blockade on Iranian ships and ports “will remain in full force” until Iran reaches a deal with the U.S. to end the war.
- A 10-day ceasefire in Lebanon and Israelstarted at midnight local time. The Israeli and Lebanese governments agreed to the ceasefire following more than a month of war between Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah militant group in Lebanon. Nearly 2,200 people in Lebanon have been killed by Israeli air strikes.
- Israel’s hardline Defense Minister Israel Katz warned on Friday that Israel’s attempt to completely disarm Hezbollah in southern Lebanon “is not yet complete” and that Israel would continue to hold all the places it is currently stationed. Hezbollah said that “Israeli occupation on our land grants Lebanon and its people the right to resist it, and this matter will be determined based on how developments unfold” — a stance that could complicate the ceasefire.
- Trump also said he’s inviting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun to the White House for the leaders’ first direct talks in over 30 years. Aoun had refused to speak with Netanyahu on Thursday. Israel’s and Lebanon’s respective ambassadors to the U.S. held their first direct diplomatic talks in decades earlier this week.
Note…
Israeli’s Hardliners are NOT happy that they have been forced by Trump, for Iran, to stop bombing Lebanon to get at Hezbollah….
…
“The U.S. and Iran are negotiating over a three-page plan to end the war, with one element under discussion being that the U.S. would release $20 billion in frozen Iranian funds in return for Iran giving up its stockpile of enriched uranium,” Axiosreports.
…
“Some Gulf Arab and European leaders believe that a US-Iran peace deal will take about six months to be agreed and that the warring sides should extend their ceasefire to cover that timeframe,” Bloomberg reports.
