Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey confirmed a shooting “involving” an ICE agent in South Minneapolis on Wednesday morning.
The big picture: Federal officials are engaged in what they call “the largest immigration enforcement operation ever,” which had already sent hundreds of agents to Minnesota over the last month, with another 2,100 arriving this week.
What we’re hearing: An ICE officer shot an “observer” monitoring federal agents at 34th Street and Portland Avenue, according to a preliminary report from City Council Member Soren Stevenson.
- Crowds were gathering near the scene and yelling at agents.
- Meanwhile, several City Council members gathered in the area to urge ICE agents to leave as protestors believed they were “contaminating” an active crime scene.
What they’re saying: “The presence of federal immigration enforcement agents is causing chaos in our city,” Frey wrote on X. “We’re demanding ICE to leave the city immediately.”…

A dark-colored SUV with a bullet hole through its windshield and blood splattered across the headrest was seen rammed into a pole on the snowy street where the shooting took place. U.S. Border Patrol commander-at-large Gregory Bovino, who has led other enforcement actions in Chicago, Charlotte and New Orleans, was also on site.
Venus de Mars, a 65-year-old Minneapolis resident who lives near the site of the shooting, described seeing paramedics perform CPR on a woman collapsed next to a snowbank near the crashed car. Shortly after, they loaded her into an ambulance that drove away without its sirens on….

The very same people who yesterday were screaming that five years ago Ashlii Babbitt was murdered by a police officer in cold blood and the officer should still face charges (even though at the time Republican Members of Congress were saying the officer did what he had to do) are saying that this shooting of a woman was completely, 100 percent justified. The very same people.
Of course, the facts should matter as it relates to what actually happened in MN. The feds and local authorities are saying different things and all sorts of videos and photos online are seeming to back both positions up. It will be very political.

Despite all the videos showing nothing of the sort, and the officer walking away, Trump has posted that the officer was “run over”, nearly killed, and is in the hospital.
Many people will believe it.

Ok I’ve looked into the media reports…..
There ARE SEVERAL serious questions to asked the FBI and Minn local and state cops….
Was the driver scared?
The actions of the shooter consistent with Fed rules and regs
Why was medical assistance refused from a doctor on scene?
Why wasn’t the local medics summoned ito the scene?
I’m NOT SEENING much of Anything ‘Right’ in the shooting itself or the follow up….
GOPer’s supporting the shooting are clueless assholes….
And this WAS a white single mother that was trying to get away from a situation that got her killed…
Police officers in the US are trained to NOT fire into a vehicle…..

Apparently, no body cams were being used by the officers, so we will never see the full picture.
One can perhaps give the officer the benefit of the doubt that he made a split second decision when he felt his life was in danger, although it looks like he could have easily sidestepped the vehicle, but it really appears the driver was trying to get away. The narrative the Administration is pushing that it was an act of terrorism and she was deliberately trying to kill people with her vehicle is going to be a tough one to sell.
Again though, some people, on both sides, see every single flashpoint as a means to be pro-Trump or anti-Trump and consume all their news or information solely along the lines of people who will back those biases up.
There was an incident in suburban Chicago a few months back in which an undocumented man in a vehicle was shot and killed by ICE. Videos of the incident that emerged showed that the narrative was completely different from what the agency was claiming at the time.
To MAGA, the cops were the bad guys on 1/6 and there was no justification whatsoever to shoot a woman who was part of a riot and trying to crawl through a window into the U.S. House Chamber, but no need to even question the actions by ICE at any time.
In the meantime, if this officer who fired the shot is willing to take part in such a spectacle. I can see him being in the gallery at next month’s State of the Union and perhaps being awarded the Medal of Freedom by Trump there.

Immediate Medical attention was denied to deceased …..
