Some US GOP Senator’s ain’t happy with the Trump ‘Peace’ plan….
Some of the Senate GOP’s top Russia hawks are up in arms over a peace plan President Donald Trump hopes will end Vladimir Putin’s war in Ukraine.
The plan — which would see Ukraine ceding Crimea, Donbas, Luhansk and parts of Kherson and Zaporizhia; place limits on Kyiv’s military and permanently block a pathway to NATO membership — has drawn the ire of Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Roger Wicker (R-Miss.), who are urging the White House to refrain from actions they say would be detrimental to the region.
“While there are many good ideas in the proposed Russia-Ukraine peace plan, there are several areas that are very problematic and can be made better,” Graham, a Trump ally who has long promoted a bill that would place crippling sanctions on Moscow, wrote in a post on X Saturday. “The goal of any peace deal is to end the war honorably and justly – and not create new conflict.”
McConnell, who hasn’t shied away from criticizing the White House over defense and foreign policy since Trump won reelection last year, compared the proposal to former President Joe Biden’s harried exit from Afghanistan in 2021.
“Putin has spent the entire year trying to play President Trump for a fool,” he said in a statement Friday. “If Administration officials are more concerned with appeasing Putin than securing real peace, then the President ought to find new advisors. Rewarding Russian butchery would be disastrous to America’s interests. And a capitulation like Biden’s abandonment of Afghanistan would be catastrophic to a legacy of peace through strength.”…

The three senators are far from the only Republicans wary of the president’s sudden push for peace. A coalition of House lawmakers led by Republican Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-Penn.), a co-chair of the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus, has announced plans to force a discharge petition over the sanctions legislation shortly after returning from the Thanksgiving recess.
Meanwhile, Ukraine’s European allies are fuming, and experts caution the 28-point plan, drafted with Russian input, may actually undermine Ukraine’s push for sustainable peace….

European’s want ajustments to the Trump ‘Peace’ Plan…
European leaders on Saturday praised President Trump’s reported 28-point plan to end the war between Ukraine and Russia for including “important elements,” but added that the plan needs “additional work” for peace to last.
The proposal would reportedly require Ukraine to relinquish the eastern territory of the Donbas region to Russia and cut its armed forces by half. In a joint statementreleased by the Council of the European Union, leaders signaled the plan is a good start — but merely a draft.
“We believe therefore that the draft is a basis which will require additional work,” they added. “We are ready to engage in order to ensure that a future peace is sustainable. We are clear on the principle that borders must not be changed by force.”
They added, “We are also concerned by the proposed limitations on Ukraine’s armed forces, which would leave Ukraine vulnerable to future attack.”
The coalition expressed their continued support for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, adding that they “will continue to coordinate closely with Ukraine and the U.S. over the coming days.”….

- Ukrainian military officials continue to indicate that Ukrainian forces are pushing back Russian efforts to seize Kupyansk — in contrast to repeated Russian claims of seizing the town.

3/ According to a Russian Foreign Ministry source, the peace plan “is not ready … in the form in which it is currently being discussed.” He says that work still needs to be done on the wording and details.
4/ “There are also issues with guarantees, the size of the Ukrainian army, and questions regarding sanctions and [frozen Russian] assets,” he says.
5/ A high-ranking Russian government source says that the proposals are a “start” but are “unlikely to be fully implemented.” Echoing Western critiques, he criticises the 28 points as having too many “vague points” that delay the resolution of contentious issues “indefinitely”.
9/ After the initial euphoria, Putin’s indifferent reaction has prompted disappointment among the Russian bureaucracy. One official thinks that Putin has “doubled the stakes again” and “may now lose.”
