The Feds have asked the judge for a sentence of 51 months in jail with No Bail before sentencing….
Here are the key developments we’re watching:
- Combs avoided possible life sentences when the jury found him not guilty of two counts of sex-trafficking and one count of racketeering conspiracy.
- He is guilty of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, which each carry sentence ranges from 0 to 10 years.
- Lawyers are debating whether Combs, jailed since September, can be released on $1 million bail while he awaits sentencing, which could take months.
- Fans — and even some rivals — of Combs are generally portraying the verdict as a huge victory for him. But dozens of sexual assault lawsuits are still waiting for Combs even if he does walk free.
The trial revolved around accusations that Combs abused two girlfriends for years at drug-fueled “freak-off” parties, forcing or compelling the women to have sex with male escorts and other men while he directed, filmed and masturbated. Prosecutors spent more than six weeks calling witnesses to support the accusations, including the main alleged victims. The singer Cassie Ventura claimed Combs raped her and regularly beat her during their 11-year relationship, including when she objected to performing in freak-offs. Jane — a court alias for a woman who dated Combs after Ventura — said she was unable to extricate herself from the sex parties after she became financially and emotionally dependent on him…..
