No surprise…..
Early polling for the November New York Mayor election has Adams losing in a one to one run against Mamdani and Cuomo winning against Mamdani in a one on one.*…
The Democratic primary only had 10% or so of what woulkd be the overall vote and higher the vote?
The thought is stronger Cuomo would be….
If both guys stay in?
Mamdani EASILY wins the vote to become the ‘Big Apple’s’ next mayor…
There IS a STRONG party pushback against Mamdani…..
New York City Mayor Eric Adams said Andrew Cuomo asked him to drop his independent bid for reelection as the former New York governor considers whether to continue with his own candidacy.
Adams said during an interview Monday on CNBC that Cuomo “knew he was setting us up for this,” knowing that the incumbent mayor already chose to forgo the Democratic primary and run as an independent instead. Cuomo, who officially lost the Democratic nomination to state Assembly member Zohran Mamdani last week, had initially announced in May he would also run as an independent and confirmed after his primary loss that he secured a spot for himself on the general election ballot….

Adams faces a significant uphill battle as he tries to win reelection for a second term. His favorability rating has been significantly underwater amid the legal and political controversies that have surrounded him, and early polling of the general election has shown him well behind Mamdani….
…
Democrats ARE seriously looking for either Adams or Cuomo to back out and have only one running against Mamdani…
The race for mayor in New York City took an unusual and turbulent turn on Monday as some Democrats lined up to suggest ways to defeat Zohran Mamdani, the one candidate officially running on their party’s line.
Former Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo and Mayor Eric Adams, two Democrats currently planning to run in the November election as independents, each called on the other to drop out.
A third independent candidate, Jim Walden, was less specific in his similarly themed proposal last week. He suggested that a poll be taken in the fall to determine who among what he referred to as the four “free-market candidates” has the best chance of defeating Mr. Mamdani in a race that “pits capitalism against socialism.” Mr. Mamdani’s left-leaning platform and democratic socialist affiliation have alarmed some of the Democratic establishment.
Whoever doesn’t win the poll, Mr. Walden said, should pledge to bow out and support the winner.
Mr. Walden’s proposal was backed on Monday by Mr. Cuomo as well as former Gov. David A. Paterson, a Democrat who held a news conference to announce his support alongside the Republican billionaire John Catsimatidis and Sid Rosenberg, a radio host and supporter of President Trump.
The underlying notion is that in a city where Democrats outnumber Republicans six to one, the only way to defeat Mr. Mamdani is for his challengers — the three independents and Curtis Sliwa, the Republican candidate — to consolidate their support behind just one of them, and avoid splitting the vote in a five-way race…
*Cuomo received the highest percentage among the likely New Your City voters when asked who would do the best job running the city, with 33.5 percent compared to Mamdani’s 32.5 percent. Adams received 12.4 percent…
This is a bad situation all around for New York, but there should be no doubt, NONE, that Eric Adams would stand a better chance in as small of a field as possible against Madami than Cuomo would.
Adams lost his support when he went to Trump….
He was a a hot mess even before
Again
If Adams and Cuomo run?
Mamdani gets the job
Cuomo is basically a non-factor. In that scenario, he gets 5 percent at most, and sure, that could be the difference, but I do not see Cuomo actively campaigning.
He barely campaigned in the primary. From what I saw on television, he looked and sounded old, befuddled and a shell of his former self. Cuomo is done for, and deserves to be done. You spent months guaranteeing he would win, right up to primary night. That is just not going to happen. Cuomo is cooked permanently.
Now, Adams may not be a good person either, but he seems far more capable than Cuomo of making an effective case against Mamdami, and for all of Adams’ baggage, it is not nearly as bad as Cuomo’s.
What they need is for the Republican Sliwa to drop out. His support would be far more likely to go towards Adams than to Cuomo,
Cuomo has NO FRIENDS….
