  2. He’s totally serious about believing he can get the Panama Canal, Greenland, and Canada. He is delusional but totally serious about these things.

    None of these things came up in the campaign. Is this what his voters voted for? Caveat Emptor.

    I especially loved the part today about how after years and years of referring to the southern border and saying (correctly) that a country without borders is not a country that our northern border is simply an “artificial line.”

      • The media should talk about this stuff. Trump certainly is talking about. The fact that he is open to the possibility of committing troops to take by force the Panama Canal and Greenland (and whatever he is suggesting we will do to make Canada a state) is certainly newsworthy. He is going to be President and chaos is going to be at his beckon call. He is going to want to do all sorts of things that his voters had no idea he actually wanted to do and there will not be many people to tell him no anymore. So, the people have the right to know.

        For all the talk about how he was “the only President to never start a war” and the harping on the supposed “warhawks” like Liz Cheney and sometimes at Lindsey Graham, he sure seems to want to use the U.S. military to go after a lot of countries.

          • He rants and he also means things he rants about. He truly believes the US should control Greenland and Canada. We need to take him seriously.

            The Panama Canal debate was at least actually a very legitimate one back in the day but I thought we had moved on from it.

            Trump in his press conference today decided to bash Jimmy Carter right before his funeral at levels not seen since the Politics1 comment section right after Ronald Reagan passed away.

                • You cannot call it a “charade.” He has now been elected twice (and came close one other time.) Whether we like or not, and we definitely should not like it, he is immensely powerful. There are scores of people who will do his bidding, for whatever it is.

              • Just about everyone in the party will humor him and the die-hards will go along with it. There are all sorts of MAGA people online talking about how important it is to have Greenland and execute a merger with Canada. They think this will be Trump’s legacy and they are all for it. They never even brought this stuff up until he started talking about it.

                No, none of these things are probably going to happen, but he truly thinks Denmark is going to give up Greenland to him and that Canada will choose to join the United States. Since this is what he wants to happen, he will hold out threats against them as part of the “negotiation.”

                The media has to cover this. He is about to be President, and perhaps the most powerful, unaccountable President ever, and this is what he is trying to do.

                  • Yes, he has beaten many of his opponents into submission. Some will get “back in the fight”, but others will not. This is reality we live in. The reality is the American President, despite not campaigning on any of these things, is actively trying to acquire the Panama Canal, Greenland, and Canada.

                    These are all major stories.

        • Let him invade Greenland and the Panama Canal.

          Let their kids get sent to the jungle and come back needing to shit in a bag the rest of their lives.

  6. No Republican President was ever speaking about fries. We have a completely unique person about to become President again.

    There is enough nuttiness with this name business to go around. The left has been very keen on re-naming all sorts of things for political reasons such as schools named for people like George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Dianne Feinstein, etc. etc.

    We should not be re-naming anything that is not named after for instance a Confederate General or P. Diddy.
