In southwestern Lebanon, an Israeli strike on a vehicle in the Tyre district on Saturday injured three, including a 7-year-old child, according to Lebanon’s Health Ministry. The IDF did not immediately respond to requests for comment about the strike. Another attack on the outskirts of Baisariyeh near Sidon in southern Lebanon injured one person, the Health Ministry said. The IDF said it had launched a strike against rocket launchers it had identified in the area.
The cease-fire agreement — reached after intensive deliberations aimed at stopping Lebanon’s deadliest war in decades — involves a halt to Israel’s invasion of Lebanon and Hezbollah’s attacks on northern Israel for 60 days, with plans for Israeli soldiers to withdraw gradually and for the Lebanese army to increase its presence in Lebanon’s south.
However, some sporadic fire has continued. The Lebanese army on Thursday said that Israeli forces violated the cease-fire agreement, while the IDF said it was responding to violations of the deal by Hezbollah. Ori Gordin, the commanding officer of the IDF’s Northern Command, told troops on Friday that the IDF would “aggressively” enforce the cease-fire.

- The Hostages and Missing Families Forum, which speaks on behalf of the families of hostages held by Hamas, confirmed that a video released by Hamas on Saturday showed Israeli American hostage Edan Alexander alive. The video was proof that “there are living hostages and they are suffering greatly,” the group said, reiterating calls for a hostage-release deal.
- On Friday, Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem gave his first public speech since the cease-fire began, arguing that the militant group has gained from the conflict despite the deaths of many of its leaders. “We are in front of a huge victory, bigger than the victory of 2006 because of the duration, the ferocity of the battle and the huge sacrifices,” Qassem said.
- At least 44,382 people have been killed in Gaza during the war and 105,142 injured, according to the Gaza Health Ministry. At least 3,961 people have been killed and 16,520 injured in Lebanon, its Health Ministry said. Neither agency distinguishes between civilians and combatants.
- Israel estimates that about 1,200 people were killed in Hamas’s Oct. 7, 2023, attack, including more than 300 soldiers. It says 379 soldiers have been killed in its military operation in Gaza and at least 77 in its war with Hezbollah….

Syrian opposition forces seized Aleppo City and advanced toward Hama City. Pro-Syrian regime forces have failed to mount an effective defense against the opposition offensive. The Turkish-backed SNA launched a separate offensive into Syrian regime-held territory. The SNA captured a military airport from the joint control of the SAA and SDF. The opposition offensive in northeastern Syria may be inspiring anti-regime activity in other parts of the country, particularly restive Daraa and Suwayda provinces. The Syrian regime may struggle to rally the same support from the Axis of Resistance and Russia that they previously provided, which will impede pro-regime counteroffensives.
