US Secretary of State asked that Israeli Military engagement rules change….
An initial inquiry by military police found that Aysenur Eygi, 26, who had arrived in the West Bank a few days earlier as a volunteer, was hit by fire “which was not aimed at her, but aimed at the key instigator of the riot,” the Israel Defense Forces said in a statement. It said the shooting took place during a “violent riot” where Palestinians had thrown rocks at Israeli security forces.
Blinken said that the shooting was “not acceptable.”
“No one, no one should be shot and killed for attending a protest,” he said. “No one should have to put their life at risk just to purely express their views. The Israeli security forces need to make some fundamental changes in the way they operate in the West Bank, including changes in their rules of engagement.”
“It has to change, and we’ll be making that clear to the senior-most members of the Israeli government,” he added.
Blinken’s comments — delivered in a firm tone alongside his British counterpart in London — was one of the strongest condemnations by the Biden administration of Israeli conduct since the Israel-Gaza war began in October. But it was not accompanied by any plan to alter U.S. weapons support for Israel….

Could there be a 6-Week pause in the conflict?
Israel’s defense minister says the window is closing on an opportunity to reach a temporary cease-fire deal with the Hamas militant group that he believes could also bring calm to the country’s volatile northern border with Lebanon.
Speaking to reporters, Yoav Gallant said that conditions are ripe for at least a six-week pause in fighting that would include the release of many of the hostages held in Gaza. However, he would not commit to a permanent end to the fighting, as Hamas has demanded, raising questions about the feasibility of a deal.
“Israel should achieve an agreement that will bring about a pause for six weeks and bring back hostages,” he said. After that period, he said, “we maintain the right to operate and achieve our goals — including the destruction of Hamas.”
The United States, along with mediators Egypt and Qatar, has been working for months to broker a cease-fire to end the devastating war between Israel and Hamas. A main area of disagreement has been Hamas’ demand for an end to the nearly year-old war and a full withdrawal of all Israeli troops from the Gaza Strip….

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken confirmed on September 10 that Iran has sent short-range ballistic missiles (SRBMs) to Russia amid growing international condemnation of Tehran’s support for Russia’s war in Ukraine. Blinken confirmed that Russia has received an unspecified number of SRBM shipments and warned that Russian forces will likely use them on the battlefield “within weeks.” Iranian officials continue to deny that Tehran has sent weapons to Moscow. Blinken and UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy affirmed on September 10 that the United States and the United Kingdom are “completely aligned” on the need to tackle Iranian influence both in Ukraine and the Middle East.
