The pundit has company in pushing for the Governor of Pennsylvania to be brought on as Kamala Harris’s Vice President pick….
Nate Silver: “Well, Shapiro is the extremely popular governor of what is by far the most important swing state. He’s highly charismatic and he’s qualified. He seems to want the job. This is about as obvious as things get in politics. You need a good reason to not pick Shaprio — and as I’ll cover here, the arguments against Shapiro are pretty bad.”
“Heck, you could argue that Shaprio was the best pick even in the absence of the Pennsylvania factor. Say he was the extremely popular governor and two-term former attorney general of New Jersey instead — not deep blue, exactly, but also not a swing state. He still laps the rest of the white dudes Harris is considering in telegenic political talent, he’s in prime VP age (51) and he has executive experience. He’d certainly be on Harris’s short list and he might be #1.”
Politico give’s the con’s on Shapiro who they rate as the best choice also…..
A vocal activist faction in the Democratic Party has come out strongly against Shapiro because of his outspoken support for Israel. He has criticized Benjamin Netanyahu’s government but also played a role in disbanding pro-Palestinian encampments on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania. Shapiro’s presence on the ticket could fracture swaths of the Democratic coalition.
While labor leaders in Pennsylvania — including some teachers unions — are backing Shapiro, some public education advocates critical of his support for school vouchers have urged Harris not to pick him. Shapiro also has faced pushback from the National Women’s Defense League about his handling of sexual harassment accusations in his own office after a Cabinet member allegedly harassed and retaliated against a female aide — all of which could complicate Harris’ image as a defender of women.
Then, there is the matter of experience. Harris’ campaign said she is looking for a governing partner with an executive’s profile. Shapiro is not even two years into his first term, and doesn’t yet have a well-defined national brand…..

Update….
Harris had face to face Q & A’s with the top VP choice’s today…..
It would seem Sen. Mark Kelly ain’t gonna be the one…
Mark Kelly’s Post Suggests He Won’t Be VP Pick
“Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ) posted a message on social media that seemed to imply he’s not Kamala Harris’ pick to serve as vice president − then deleted and replaced the post − fueling intrigue as Harris nears a final decision for her running-mate,” USA Today reports.
Wrote Kelly: “I spent my life in the Navy and at NASA, where the mission always comes first. Now, my mission is serving Arizonans.”
He deleted it about 30 minutes later.

I am going to go on the record and say it will be a mistake to not pick Shapiro.
One word explanation: Pennsylvania
Also, I am not saying that Shapiro could give the Democrats Florida as well, but nobody else on that list, is going to give you any sort of chance of getting Florida. L’Chaim.
jamesb says
Shaapiro HAS a Michigan consideration……
Amd we’re waiting for the Iran response that COULD also effect his choice….
I think she has LESS than 12 hours to announce…
Waltz could be a safe pick or Beshear
But Shapiro IS the front runner….
My Name Is Jack says
To me this is a no brainer.
Beshear brings nothing to the ticket Kentucky is a slam dunk for Trump.
Walz? The Democrats are likely to win Minnesota with or without him.
Which brings us down to Shapiro or Kelly.Pa. and Arizona are swing states. Both are popular in their respective states.Pa. Has more EVs than Arizona.
Ipso?
Shapiro
jamesb says
Agreed……
Kelly already signaled he had a bad Q & A…..
I told CG East coast pick IS what I think…..
CG says
No, Kelly did not signal he had a “bad Q&A.” That is simply in your head.
jamesb says
He DID INDICATE that his job was in working for Arizona
He is a US Senator
The pick is quested to a sitting gov
As has been pointed out
Kelly is well qualified
He lacks the ‘Zip’ needed
CG says
1. Something tweeted out on his social media, probably came from a staffer in a pre-arranged message. It is doubtful he posted it himself.
2. Even if he thinks it will not be him, it probably has nothing to do with a “bad Q&A.”
3. Some believe the way to best manifest something for yourself that you want is to act like you do not want it or need it.
I think there are issues with Kelly and his divorce from his first wife that would be problematic politically.
jamesb says
It WAS KELLY
HE PULLED IT 30 minutes later….
Ok
Good point on Clinton-Gore
CG says
“East Coast” has nothing to do with this. You are just trolling me at this point. You seem to be implying that a choice from Pennsylvania would some be akin to a pick from a different “east coast” state.
Pennsylvania is not even an “east coast” state. It it not a coastal state. Even if it were, that is irrelevant. Pennsylvania is simply a competitive, large population state, that happens to be in the eastern time zone.
jamesb says
If it’s Shapiro?
My view prevails…….
U do NOT have two national ticket with people from the SAME region
CG says
1. We have seen two people from the same region before (i.e. Clinton/Gore)
2. Nobody on the short-list is from the Pacific West or West Cost
3. There are other regions of the country outside of the Pacific West that qualify for your criteria.
jamesb says
Arizona ain’t West?
jamesb says
On line reports are saying Walz or Shapiro…..

Media has to be looking for tge Secret Service detail at his house or office
