The third week of Donald Trump’s trial in Manhattan is set to begin. The legal experts who understand the ins and outs of Trump’s various trials believe that the testimony of David Pecker, the National Enquirer publisher, was very damaging to Trump’s flimsy defense of his obvious crimes. Because I never went to law school (and you don’t subscribe to this newsletter for legal analysis), I am focused on the politics of the trial. There are questions about how photos of Trump at the defense table affect his public image, whether the revelations are turning off persuadable voters, and the cost of being trapped in a courtroom instead of campaigning in the battleground states. And then, of course, there is the ultimate question of what impact a conviction would have on the election. To that end, CNN released a poll late last week that offered some very interesting details on the voters who could abandon Trump if convicted. The results are fascinating and provide optimism for Democrats even if Trump is acquitted in the case.
According to the poll, nearly a quarter of people currently backing Trump say a conviction might cause them to reconsider voting for him. On the one hand, that 76% of voters would happily hand the nuclear codes to a convicted felon is the horrifying reality of the state of American politics. On the other, more optimistic hand, 24% of Trump’s voters possibly abandoning him is a massive number in a highly polarized electorate….
I don’t believe a conviction on these charges will have much effect at all on Trumps campaign.
Yes I’m aware of these “polls.”
I’m also aware that Republicans have shown over and over their excusing Trump for his various outrages over the past eight years.
And I’m also aware how James is consistently wrong in his “ predictions “ as to Trump political demise, Republicans deserting him and on and on.
Oh the upcoming conviction won’t be anything to the MAGA types…..NOPE
But several things.,…
Trump is NOT Seriously campaigning
Trump is frustrated
Trump is gonna be out a shitload of money
Trump will be a convicted Felon……
THAT WILL resonate with Democrats, Independents and Yes some Republicans….
My ‘hope’ along with those here is a predictive LOSS for The Second Time for the ex-President….

You on the other hand, have no credibility at all as regards Trump.
For eight years now you have been “ predicting “ his political demise.
Daily we are treated to dumbass statements from you “ predicting “ that Biden is “ pulling away( he’s not), that Trump is going to jail( he’s not),that Republicans will turn on Trump once he’s convicted on one of these charges( in my view they won’t) and on and on.
I don’t regard you as a serious person as regards political matters.You simply make up something in your own mind, repeat it over and over and then it becomes your reality, regardless of the facts.Sort of like,well, Donald Trump!

He now sit’s in court facing felony charges , found guilty of criminal contempt NINE Times and counting….
Trump hasn’t been much of a success ….

The NYC judge HAS warned Trump that he COULD have the ex-President DETAINED….
