Israel is keeping the American President & Co. VERY BUSY…….
President Biden has his Sec of State making the rounds trying to keep Middle Eastern countries from escakating their rhetoric and possible reactions to the Israeli threat to roll into North Gaza and ran the place….President Biden will be traveling to Israel in a few days it’s reported …..
The exodus of Palestinians from Gaza WILl effect Egypt the worst and could spill o0ver into a mass migration of those displaced into other Middel East countries that do NOT want the Palestians pissed at Israel in their countries….
Already the pain and suffering aspect of the situation has eclipsed the atrocities against the Israelis more than a week ago in the media…..
The Biden administration has grown increasingly anxious in recent days that Israel’s enemies may seek to widen the war with Hamas by opening new fronts, a move that could compel the United States to enter the conflict directly with air and naval forces to defend its closest ally in the region.
The administration has sought to use diplomatic and military avenues to head off any expansion. The Pentagon dispatched a second aircraft carrier to the region over the weekend along with additional land-based warplanes, even as Washington sent back-channel messages to Iran through intermediaries in Qatar, Oman and China warning against escalation.
Fears of a second front deepened on Sunday as intense clashes broke out along Israel’s northern border. Hezbollah, the Iranian-backed militia that controls southern Lebanon, fired missiles into Israel, and Israel responded with artillery fire and airstrikes. A full-fledged attack on the north could overwhelm Israel, as most of its forces are focused on a potential ground invasion of Gaza, in the south.
“We can’t rule out that Iran would choose to get directly engaged some way,” Jake Sullivan, President Biden’s national security adviser, said on CBS’s “Face the Nation” on Sunday. “We have to prepare for every possible contingency. That’s exactly what the president has done. That is part of what has motivated the president’s movement of these assets, to send that clear message of deterrence to make clear that this war should not escalate.”….
Hamas holding Hostages…
Something that has dropped for the headlines is the Ireali hostage’s being held by Hamas….
Some in the group are bound to be Americans and Biden’s people said no America rescue effort would be made….But backed away from that postion yesterday…..
Reports are that the families of the Israeli hostages are NOT happy with Netanyahu about thye situation they and their family members are in….
Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari, spokesman for the Israel Defense Forces, told reporters the families of those being held hostage have been notified, The Associated Press reported. He did not say whether the latest number includes foreigners or who was responsible, but most are believed to be held by Hamas — the militant group that infiltrated southern Israel more than a week ago.
The nearly 200 estimated hostages, which is up from the previous estimate of 150, include children and the elderly.
It is also believed some of these hostages are U.S. citizens. National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby told reporters last week there was a “very small” number of Americans believed to be held as hostages, but he wasn’t aware of proof of life and couldn’t provide details about their whereabouts or condition…..
Netanyahu is losing support in Israel….
He seems to have NOT lost the anger from Israeli’s who where against him before the Hamas attack occurred and now are even MORE mad at what the country faces….And the Isaeli military might and Intelligence mystic IS gone….
In making a deal with the hard right in his country to get his Prime Minister spot back?
He has lost even more in politics and lives of his people and the Palestinians …
And this is FAR from over….
And there are STILL hostages…..
On the ninth day after Hamas overran more than 20 Israeli pastoral communities and army bases, killing more than 1,300 people and taking 150 hostages back to Gaza, Israel was a country on edge.
Israelis were girding with grim determination for what they widely see as a war of no choice after the attack on Oct. 7 — the deadliest day for Jews in Israel’s 75-year history and, officials say, since the Holocaust. They were awaiting an imminent ground invasion into the Palestinian enclave controlled by Hamas even as tensions escalated on the northern border with Lebanon, threatening a long and devastating conflict on several fronts.
All this is happening amid a total breakdown of trust between the citizens and the state of Israel, and a collapse of everything Israelis believed in and relied on. Initial assessments point to an Israeli intelligence failure before the surprise attack, the failure of a sophisticated border barrier, the military’s slow initial response and a government that seems to have busied itself with the wrong things and now appears largely absent and dysfunctional.
“We have woken to a terrible sobriety about whose hands we put our fate in,” said Dorit Rabinyan, an author in Tel Aviv. “All the time you said to yourself, ‘I am paying half of what I earn in taxes, but it is for security, national security, at least that.’”
“We thought we had military superiority, but there’s a feeling that someone up there forgot why he is there,” she added, referring to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu…..
