The fighting is now on two fronts…..
Gaza and Lebanon…..
We all wait to see if Israel launches a ground action into Gaza….
Such action in the past resulted in a high causality cost for Isreali soldier’s with deaths and being taken hostage ….
While Israel buries its dead….
Palestinians not involved in the hostilties are seeking food, shelter and safety….
The Biden admin will ask Congress to approve aid for Israel, Ukraine and Taiwan in one vote….
Arms manufacters ARE gonna be busy for a LONG time…..
Zelensky wants to visit Israel to show solidarity….
Again?
How did the Israeli’s let this happen?’
Officials in President Joe Biden’s administration have privately told lawmakers that the White House is preparing a supplemental funding request to submit to Congress that includes money for Israel, Ukraine, Taiwan and U.S. border security, according to two congressional officials, an administration official and a defense official.
Administration officials also said the request would aim to address the strain that providing additional military support for Israel, Ukraine and Taiwan would put on the Pentagon’s stockpiles, the sources said, by asking for money to build more weapons.
Biden said Tuesday that “when Congress returns, we’re going to ask them to take urgent action to fund the national security requirements of our critical partners.”
Biden’s national security adviser Jake Sullivan said Tuesday that the Office of Management and Budget is drafting the supplemental request….

House members were “clearly shaken” leaving a classified members-only briefing on Israel this morning, Punchbowl News reports.
Rep. Max Miller (R-OH) told reporters he “learned something very, very new within that room that has changed the scope and how I see this developing situation.”
There was heightening fear that the conflict could widen: Fire has been exchanged along Israel’s northern border with both Lebanon and Syria in recent days, and Israeli forces said they launched retaliatory strikes inside Lebanon on Wednesday, hitting targets belonging to Hezbollah, an armed Iran-backed Lebanese group allied with Hamas.
Israel has also intensified its retaliation against Hamas, launching more missiles on Wednesday at the Gaza Strip, the sealed-off coastal territory controlled by the militant group, where fears of a humanitarian disaster were growing. New airstrikes hit rescue crews trying to reach people buried under the rubble of earlier attacks. The authorities in Gaza, which is under blockade by Israel and Egypt, said that its sole power plant had run out of fuel, forcing hospitals to rely on backup generators with limited fuel supplies.
While the Israeli military assembles tanks and soldiers along the border with Gaza, it remains unclear whether it will launch a ground invasion. At least 1,100 Palestinians have been killed, including 326 children, and 5,539 wounded, since Saturday, Gaza health officials said on Wednesday.
Here’s what else to know:
-
Gazans say that Israel has hit structures that are normally safe, such as schools, hospitals and mosques. Israel has given broad warnings for people to leave certain neighborhoods or towns but has acknowledged that they are not as extensive or specific as they have been in the past.
-
The United States has pledged “urgent action” to support Israel’s response to what President Biden on Tuesday called “pure, unadulterated evil.” The first shipment of new U.S. weapons arrived in Israel, and Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken was traveling there. He was expected to meet with senior Israeli officials on Thursday to discuss military needs and hostage negotiations.
-
The number of U.S. citizens killed during the attacks has risen to 22, a State Department spokesman said on Wednesday. American citizens are among the hostages.
-
On Wednesday evening, the Israeli Army instructed civilians across northern Israel to shelter in their safe rooms after reports of aircraft crossing into Israeli airspace from southern Lebanon, an area dominated by Hezbollah, but the Israeli military later said there had been no intrusion. Israel Defense Forces also said “human error” was to blame for a false nationwide shelter-in-place alert sent on Wednesday.

A New York Times analysis of Hamas propaganda and satellite images shows how the assailants were able to execute such a sophisticated operation on Saturday. They appear to have destroyed communications towers close to the Gaza border that are key to Israel’s defense. Israel has said little about what appears to be a spectacular failure of its security and intelligence operations….

US Military leaders are worried about Iran groups going after American soldiers in the Middle East region
The Pentagon is concerned about the potential for new attacks on American troops stationed in the Middle East from Iran and its proxy forces as the conflict between Israel and Hamas militants escalates in an already tumultuous region, according to Defense Department officials.
DOD officials are specifically worried that Iranian proxy groups in Iraq and Syria, or Iranian forces in the Persian Gulf, could take advantage of the instability in the region to attack American or partner forces operating in those two countries — as they have done in the past, two DOD officials said…..
Note….
One could assume that the money give back to Iran is DOA at this time…..

Is “conflict” really the right word?
After 9/11, did we refer to the “U.S-Al Qaeda” conflict?
I realize the host is too stubborn to even give it a second thought.
jamesb says
Don’t COUNTRIES go to ‘war’ ?
CG says
Hamas is not a country.
A “conflict” is different than a war.
CG says
I think I maybe get what you are saying now… Hamas is not a country, so it cannot be a “war.”
Well, it seems like nobody really had a problem with describing the U.S. as being involved in a “war on terror.” Terror is not a country either. War is a more accurate term, although putting Israel and Hamas as somehow being equivalent parties is also off-base.
If I were in a situation where I would be providing daily updates on the same headline, I would maybe follow what you have been doing on Ukraine and call it “Israel Update….days into Israel’s Retaliation against Hamas”
Thank G-d though for both of us, that I am not your journalism professor or editor.

I’m my editor for the good and bad….
And my friend’s here let me know the bad….
It’s All Good

Since it also appears likely that Hezbollah and perhaps other hostile actors will join fighting against Israel, a more accurate term would be “War on Israel.” I would say that “War on Ukraine” also accurately describes what Russia has been doing.
To state the obvious, this is not a war Israel started this past weekend, but as the saying goes, it will be one that they finish.
jamesb says
I disagree
They have been through this type of conflict several times……
The basic remains the same
After this is over there WILL be grief, sorrow and mistrust left on both sides….
The cycle of violence will flare once again
There ARE those in the region that do NOT want peace…….
Wiki Israel’s history
Be informed…..
jamesb says
The waste is the lives lost on both sides….
CG says
Nothing like what happened this past weekend has *ever* happened to Israel before. The scope and brutality of how they were attacked is unprecedented.
This “both sides” talk and mentions of “cycles of violence” is grotesque.
Israel has always wanted peace. There is only one bad side in this war.
jamesb says
Since 1947 this recurrence……
Yes it’s Horrible
So is what is going on in the Ukraine and other places around the world……
And?
Yes it WILL CONTINUE to happen…….
It is ‘the way’ of human beings

Maybe you need to start listening more to Joe Biden.
