The Ohio Republican House member is NEVER gonna get the Speaker’s gravel…
He actually lost support….
We don’t know if there will be another vote….
The shift is turning to make McHenry , the temporary Speaker, have the power to do things….
The vote was….
Jordan 212
Jeffries 199
Scalise 7
McCarthy 5
Others 10
Others 22…..
jamesb says
The House goes into recess…..
BTW?
John Boehner got ONE vote….
My Name Is Jack says
I’m for Boehner.
That book he wrote a few years back was one of the best political books I’ve read.
His description of that miserable creep,Mark Meadows, on his knees begging Boehners forgiveness for trying to take him down was hilarious.
jamesb says
Would NOT be a bad choice……
He’s seen the light
CG says
Boehner will not be returning as Speaker, (I appreciate the vote for him as a way to troll Jordan), but what exactly has he “seen the light on?”
Do you think he has become a Democrat?
jamesb says
We KNOW THAT CG
Scott P says
Boehner has “seen the light” on Marijuana legalization. The speed at which ole John became an advocate makes me wonder if he didn’t think the Reagans “just say no” campaign was bullshit all along.
jamesb says
The word IS Jordan will try again tomorrow….
The talk in the Capitol halls is Jordain will NOT get the spot…..
Some kind of vote to allow McHenry to actually have the power to act as Speaker….
Democrats probably would want something to go along with that…..
jamesb says
Some feel Jordan will keep losing 🔊 votes the longer he runs the voting out

As Jordan warns against “coalition government” with Ds, Jeffries says informal bipartisan talks have “accelerated” and suggests openness to empowering Rep. McHenry.
“I have respect for Patrick McHenry” and other Republicans, Jeffries said. “Jim Jordan is not one of them”
The reason why this dripshit should not be Speaker?
Warning AGAINST Bipartisan Government????
WTF?
CG says
There are a bunch of Democrat House members going around saying they oppose any effort to give more power to McHenry, etc, and basically saying that no Republican is worthy, no matter the circumstance.
But there might very well be enough bipartisan votes to end the ridiculous stalemate with such a temporary solution.
jamesb says
Reports are that Jeffries has been doing the opposite

Next vote on a third ballot for Jim Jordan: Tomorrow at noon.
His GOP opponents expect his opposition to grow to deny him the speakership
CG says
Maybe Jordan is insisting for a 1-2-3 pin count.
Democratic Socialist Dave says
CG reminds me of Anthony Quinn’s last scenes in Requiem for a Heavyweight.
Maybe Jungle Jim could ask WWE and the McMahons for a slot (no special disguise or costume needed, just shirtsleeves and a yellow tie).
CG says
I can envision Patrick McHenry as a bow-tied wearing professional wrestling manager who interferes in matches by pounding the opponent very hard with a gavel.
Democratic Socialist Dave says
Now that you mention it, CG, I can see the Acting Speaker as that bow-tied bespectaled doctor who steps into the ring to certify that both combatants are still alive…
jamesb says
Somewhere Kevin McCarthy IS smiling…..
Democratic Socialist Dave says
… or maybe the referee who breaks up a clutch…
