A good piece in the Bulwick on something I’ve been getting pissed about with the Menendez case….
Republicans ain’t throwing Trump overboard….
Warts and criminal activity and all….
They don’t seem to see how DANGEROUS the ex-President was in office and wants to be if they give him another chance…
BUT?
A polled MAJORITY would like Joe Biden to give up a second term?
The recent run on Biden age stories is predicated on two fundamental realities:
(1) Panicking members of the pro-democracy coalition are freaked the fuck out about the end of the American experiment if the other guy wins. (2) This very moment is the last possible chance to switch horses before it will become absolutely necessary to circle the wagons around Ye Olde Secretariat no matter how frail he seems.
Some Biden supporters are frustrated with this increasingly public agita and they often state that this frustration is premised on the fact that the media doesn’t mention Trump’s advanced age with the same urgency or concern as Biden’s. I don’t know if that stated critique gets at the heart of the frustration, though. Yes, Trump is also old, and sure, it would be nice for The Media to mention that from time to time. But the real exasperation simmering underneath goes something like this:
SURE BIDEN IS OLD BUT THE OTHER CANDIDATE IS A FELONIOUS MANIAC WHO ATTEMPTED A COUP AND HAS SAID HE WANTS TO END THE CONSTITUTION AND ASSASSINATE HIS POLITICAL ENEMIES. WHY AREN’T MORE PEOPLE—REPUBLICANS, THE MEDIA, MY FATHER, ANYONE!!!!—PANICKING ABOUT THAT INSTEAD?!
That is the issue flummoxing me of late.
The timeline for Trump is the same as it is for Biden. Now would be the time for a full-court press to prevent him from being nominated and yet . . . only Jack Smith seems to be making progress in that regard.
Look at this screengrab from yesterday’s Drudge Report which offers a little taste of the American Carnage that Trump has planned.
Those headlines read like they are from a dystopian, authoritarian fantasy world, not the American democratic republic we grew up in. Shutting down media outlets. Killing disfavored generals.
Any human of any ideological stripe who is capable of looking at that news rundown with the slightest discernment must concur that Trump needs to be stopped. Which is why it’s the absence of Trump panic in GOP discourse that is the outlier, not the reasonable ongoing discussion about the best course for President Biden coming from the left. ….
…
Molly Jong-Fast: “I can’t speak to what lurks in the hearts of political reporters and editors, but one has to wonder why there isn’t more coverage about Trump musing about sentencing the nation’s highest ranking general to death than, say, the age of the current president…”
“Oddly, Trump’s dangerous rant was not treated as the major news it absolutely should have been. ‘Only CNN and MSNBC covered Trump’s inflammatory Truth Social post about the general,’ Media Matters noted Tuesday, ‘while broadcast news outlets and Fox News completely ignored it.’”

There is the second early Republican debate tonight for a possible Trump standby….

I’ll have a post on tonight’s Republican debate later……

You are outrage enough.
First, this about ability. Who can do the job. Joe Biden proves every day that he can.
He’s 80, his opponent, the next Republican nominee is 30 months younger and morbidly obsess. His form of exercise is to ride around in a golf cart.
Joe actually works out everyday.
Second, it’s a little late to complain about that James. But you clearly have been late before.
Today our host called Democrats ballless because they won’t defend an obvious felon, when, of course the whole Republican Party is defending a fat ass with 91 felony counts. But, go figure, especially when any defense of Menendez gives away the moral high ground. But, our host has never been good on those small details or actually understanding politics.
We have a Republican Party that is up to its ass in corruption and James wants to give up the moral high ground.
This reminds me of when he decided that Biden looked weak on the Ukraine and Putin. Are you still talking to the same folks from work James?
But, the best comment tonight came from our friend Corey Gross who still after more than a decade as a person who has commented on blogs as Corey Gross, now wants to identified as CG. Why? Is he ashamed of his name? The man who went to great lengths to discover my identity now wants to mask his when he comments on a blog frequented by less than a dozen people.
Go figure.
Again. Joe Biden had a great debate night. Republican midgets trying to tell us they should be the next President. Trump shades all these people because he’s the bigot the Republican base has always wanted as President. After all, they’re Republicans aren’t they?.
This election is between Biden and Trump. Don’t want Trump, vote for Biden.
jamesb says
Menendez, as much of a low life he IS, has as much ‘Rights’ as Trump who tried to steal a election
Keith says
You really never understood any of this stuff now did you?
Everyone is innocent until proven guilty.
Do you think Trump is innocent? Do you think Melendez is innocent?
In your ridiculous rant you made this into a manhood thing where you essentially praised Republicans for standing behind Trump and thought the Democrats should do the same for the Senator from New Jersey.
Jack compared you comment to “Monkeys at a typewriter.”
He’s right!
This is about Democracy and the rule of law.
jamesb says
I HAVE made it CLEAR my point is NOT about GUILT….
In MY view Donald Trump IS Guilty of more then the four cases….
I have repeated SEVERAL time and this time AGAIN that Menendez IS shady….
Your point is the political angle….
Trump IS trying the same thing….
The POLITICAL ANGLE….
I’m about the LAW…..
Democracy IS about NOT running off BEFORE the trial….
As U and Jack would sing all the time?
YOU DON’T GET IT…..
My Name Is Jack says
Nonsensical .
jamesb says
Maybe…….
But he ain’t quitting
CG says
Would you prefer they vote to expel him, as Fetterman is now saying he wants to do?
Is there ANYTHING a Democrat could do that would make you think they should resign? Yes or no.
jamesb says
CG?
I don’t think Schumer is gonna do ANYTHING for Fetterman right now after the vote to bring back the dress code in chamber…..
CG says
It’s not just for Fetterman. Every Democrat in the Senate wants Menendez gone tomorrow. You seem to not understand the concept of why they do.
So, they will launch an official Ethics Committee investigation and then probably try to expel him if h will not resign (which is what would have happened to Bob Packwood if he had not quit in the 90s)
They will need Republican votes to get rid of Menendez though. Some, like Mitt Romney, have made it clear that Menendez should resign if “even one ounce” of the charges are true, but it in the political interest of the MAGA Republicans for Menendez to remain in place.
jamesb says
I think Schumer was just trying do Fetterman a ‘solid’ after he’s back……
Nothing to do with Menendez who the Pa senator is calling out……
One would think Fetterman would go slow on a fellow Democratic Senator having a problem?
CG says
You are saying Fetterman should view a fellow Democrat Senator being indicted criminally as somehow being on par with his having a stroke or suffering from depression?
jamesb says
I’m saying that Fettermen had the majority Leader trying to help him as a individual….
Fetterman might want to slow his roll against Menendez….
Keith says
Totally nonsensical.
Menendez will leave when the Feds offer him a deal.
jamesb says
Could come to that Keith
Yup!
CG says
If Menendez shot someone on Fifth Avenue, you would continue to support his remaining in the U.S. Senate, because he is a Democrat.
Is that correct or incorrect?
Ghost of SE says
The guy once said Obama was among the greatest Presidents in history because “He’s not a Republican,” so it wouldn’t surprise me.
CG says
You have dodged this and other questions today.
