Defendants in Fedral criminal trials do NOT go on social media to attack prosocutors and witnesses ….
They would be remanded to jail forthwith….
But?
Donald Trump, an ex-President , from the Roy Cohen school, IS apparently going to take on his upcoming trial judge in the MEDIA…..

This could get bumpy…..
No matter what?
One could get the impression that Trump KNOWS he’s gonna get convicted on the charges and is now working for his only defense….
The media and his supporters in the US House and elsewhere…..
This NEVER was gonna be about the charges for Trump…..

Donald Trump took to Truth Social to taunt Mike Pence — a likely witness against him — just hours after prosecutors warned a judge his posts could have a “harmful chilling effect” on witnesses in the criminal case against him.
Said Trump: “WOW, it’s finally happened! Liddle’ Mike Pence, a man who was about to be ousted as Governor Indiana until I came along and made him V.P., has gone to the Dark Side.”
He added: “I never told a newly emboldened (not based on his 2% poll numbers!) Pence to put me above the Constitution, or that Mike was ‘too honest.’ He’s delusional, and now he wants to show he’s a tough guy.”
Trump ‘s effort to delay his trial for evidence grounds fails …
“A federal judge on Saturday denied a request from former President Donald Trump’s legal team for a deadline extension over the handling of evidence in the 2020 election subversion case,” CNN reports.
“Trump’s lawyers will have to respond by Monday afternoon to the Justice Department’s proposal for a protective order.”
“The decision from US District Judge Tanya Chutkan caps a flurry of activity in the case after special counsel Jack Smith’s team on Friday asked Chutkan to quickly set limits on what Trump’s team can do with the evidence that will be shared with them. Their request pointed to a post by Trump on Truth Social from earlier in the day to argue that the former president has a habit of speaking publicly about the details of the various legal proceedings he’s facing.”

….The illegalities from a criminal sense come in though when someone uses the office of the Presidency to try to intimidate state or local election officials or to engage in a plan to fraudulently submit a slate of alternate electors. Trying to coerce the Vice President of the United States to violate the Constitution and prevent the certification of an election at the mandated time and place should also be illegal. So, this goes far further than free speech. The hysterical and ridiculous analogies drawn by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy to Al Gore of Hillary Clinton protesting their election losses (even though both formally conceded) are beyond ludicrous. Neither of them, nor any Democrat such as Stacy Abrams who had refused to admit defeat, took actions to try to get in power or stay in power. That is the key difference. Beyond that tactic, it seems like the only other thing Republicans have been coordinated in doing for Trump’s defense is to talk endlessly about Hunter Biden (who is under criminal indictment himself) and a “double standard” in justice. Whether there is one or not should not relevant to this discussion over what Trump did in the two federal cases brought against him. (I am on record in saying the New York charges seem weaker on the surface and politically motivated..motivated to make sure he is the Republican nominee against Biden.)
Do we have a “weaponized Justice Department” or “system of justice?” If there is, it should be a weapon of self-defense. Nobody is attempting to actually claim Donald Trump is an innocent man. Besides himself of course. I should also point out in regards to the Hunter Biden “plea deal” which may eventually re-emerge, that we can be certain that Trump would also be offered plea deals if he were willing to take one…
