From the N Y Times….
Former President Jimmy Carter, who at 98 is the longest living president in American history, has decided to forgo any further medical treatment and will enter hospice at his home in Georgia, the Carter Center announced on Saturday.
“After a series of short hospital stays, former U.S. President Jimmy Carter decided to spend his remaining time at home with his family and receive hospice care instead of additional medical intervention,” the center said in a statement posted on Twitter. “He has the full support of his family and his medical team. The Carter family asks for privacy during this time and is grateful for the concern shown by his many admirers.”
The center did not elaborate on what conditions had prompted the recent hospital visits or his decision to enter hospice care. Mr. Carter has survived a series of health crises in recent years, including a bout with the skin cancer melanoma, which spread to his liver and brain, as well as repeated falls….

Very sorry to see that, but President Carter (like President Geo. H. W. Bush) was born in 1924. Queen Elizabeth II was born in 1926.

Carter remains the only President I have ever actually met.
It was 1975 in the early days of his long shot bid for the Democratic nomination.Carter was hosting a meet and greet at a hotel in Charleston.A few friends and I attended. There weren’t many people there .Carter was standing around talking with people as they came in He was accompanied by a young guy who we later learned was named Jody Powell ( who became his Press Secretary after his election.).
Our verdict?Nice guy but has no chance at the nomination!

I was around after the 1980 National Convention that sent Ted Kenndey home in a Lear Jet after Carter beat him….
The two guys did NOT lkie each other and Carter, a peanut farmer from Plains Ga and Navy guy actually got over on the Kenndy Family….Of course Ted Kenny DID carry a heavy history on his back…Good and Bad….

Rosalynn will be 96 soon & Jimmy 99 in Oct. Few have worked as long & hard to improve other people’s lives in a selfless way.
