A SEVENTH Vote will coming …..
Media noise has Rep. Kevin McCarthy making ‘progress’……
Media noise has some defiant House GOPer’s saying they will NEVER vote for the California Republican House leader…
McCarthy is reportedly promising the Freedom Party gang all sorts of things that he’ll never be able to stick to because they would be essentially having the power to veto ANYTHING the House would try to do….
THAT could and probably would force the legislative body to form a voting group agreement between House Republicans and Democrats to get around the rightwingnuts….Which is actually the way things are supposed to work to get a majority….
And THAT would be diluting Republican power even though they have a slim majority….
At some point something HAS TO GIVE….
Next week , with no actual work going on?
The US House stops paying it’s bills and salaries…..
Kevin McCarthy is giving new ground to his conservative critics in a bid to revive his flagging bid for the speakership, though it’s far from clear that the concessions his allies are floating will be enough to put him over the top.
Following the California Republican’s failure to secure the House’s top gavel after six rounds of balloting, McCarthy’s team laid out a potential deal to some of his dissenters that gives into nearly every demand that conservative skeptics insisted on.
Yet time is running out as some McCarthy backers exasperated by the stalemate eye an exit strategy. Rep. Pete Sessions (R-Texas), a former Rules Committee chair long considered an ally of GOP leadership, insisted on CNN last night that members should start discussing other potential speaker candidates, such as Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.), the expected incoming majority leader.
“I want to see what those concessions are, line by line. And maybe name by name,” said Rep. Steve Womack (R-Ark.)
“Frustrated? That’s mild,” he added.
McCarthy’s camp also expects that he may eventually have to endorse conservatives for committee gavels, such as Rep. Andy Harris (Md.), who’s pushing to lead the Health and Human Services subcommittee on Appropriations, or Rep. Mark Green (R-Tenn.), who’s gunning to lead the Committee on Homeland Security. (Those decisions are subject to the approval of the GOP steering committee, though McCarthy’s influence is significant.)…
A Black Republican elect puts McCarthy back in the vote for the 7th Time….
A Latino Democrat puts Jeffries back in the vote the 7th time….
WANTED: Republican Speaker of the House. Must be able to fight for Americans. Must be nothing like Paul Ryan. Must have as big of balls as Nancy Pelosi…. Do we have anyone like that capable of getting the votes?
McCarthy won’t get over on the 7th try……
7th Vote for Spealker Confirmed….
