Confirmation is going to be a bot of a struggle?
Probably didn’t want the view that Graham and the Republicans made the pick which WOULD be used against him by some Democrats….
And it seems that Biden was also a public defender back in the day like Brown….
And Republican Senator Senator Graham is ALREADY complaining ….
President Biden has selected Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson as his nominee to the Supreme Court, the administration said Friday, choosing a well-regarded federal appeals court judge who if confirmed would make history by becoming the first Black woman to serve as a justice.
In Judge Jackson, 51, Mr. Biden selected a liberal-leaning jurist who earned a measure of Republican support when he nominated her to the influential federal appeals court in Washington, D.C., last summer. If confirmed by the Senate, she would replace Justice Stephen G. Breyer, the senior member of the court’s three-member liberal wing, who announced last month that he would retire at the end of the current court term this summer if his successor was in place.
While her confirmation would not change the court’s ideological balance — conservatives appointed by Republicans would retain their 6-3 majority — it would achieve another first: all three justices appointed by Democratic presidents would be women.
Mr. Biden is scheduled to give remarks on his nomination of Judge Jackson this afternoon….

When Judge Jackson was sworn in for the job in 2013, Justice Breyer did the honors. “She sees things from different points of view, and she sees somebody else’s point of view and understands it,” he said at the time.
Judge Jackson has also served as a public defender, a rarity among Supreme Court candidates. But it was a trait that appealed to Mr. Biden, who briefly served as a public defender earlier in his career….

Black leaders and civil rights groups on Friday celebrated President Biden‘s forthcoming nomination of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to serve on the Supreme Court, which will fulfill his campaign pledge to nominate a Black woman to serve on the nation’s highest court.
“This is a tremendously historic moment for our nation and our community in particular. President Biden has met this moment with an extraordinarily qualified nominee, who has stellar credentials and an impeccable background,” NAACP President Derrick Johnson said in a statement.
Jennifer Jones Austin, vice-chair of the National Action Network civil rights group, emphasized Jackson would make history as both the first Black woman on the Supreme Court and the first public defender to serve on the bench if she is confirmed to replace the retiring Justice Stephen Breyer…..

So far there does not appear to be any Democratic opposition to Brown Jackson – other than from James (who sometimes claims to be a Democrat..

Brown Jackson was voted to the Appeals Court last year with the votes of Graham, Murkowski and Collins.

Janna and I are incredibly happy for Ketanji and her entire family. Our politics may differ, but my praise for Ketanji’s intellect, for her character, and for her integrity, is unequivocal.
If u check back a few years u’ll find that whenever I thought Obama screwed up I said so…..

I would have preferred Childs; howeverJackson ,is well qualified and it’s interesting that she once served as a Public Defender,
PDs famously claim that few former PDs ever become Judges . So this is noteworthy.

Biden officially nominated Ketanji Brown Jackson to the US Supreme Court on Friday, setting in motion a historic confirmation process for what would be the first Black woman to sit on the highest court in the nation.
The news of Harris’ involvement, first reported on CNN, offers a small glimpse into the vice president’s role in the process. Biden said at a White House announcement ceremony Friday that he had been “fortunate” to have had Harris’ advice.
