Billionaire Investor Says Trump Pushing Fascist Policies

“Donald Trump wants to ‘dictate’ policies like those of far-right regimes in the 1930s, a leading billionaire investor has warned,” The Guardian reports.

“Ray Dalio writes in a new book that the US president is acting like a chief executive without a board as he seeks to expand executive power even more aggressively than predecessors Andrew Jackson and Franklin D Roosevelt.”

Writes Dalio: “When I say that the policies President Trump is using to ‘make America great again’ are remarkably like the policies that those of the hard-right countries in the 1930s used, that should not be controversial.”

          A federal judge in New York on Tuesday cleared the way for the Treasury Department’s entire DOGE team to access the federal government’s sensitive data systems that manage trillions of dollars in payments each year.

          U.S. District Judge Jeannette Vargas lifted the final legal restriction barring four Treasury DOGE staffers from accessing Treasury’s payments infrastructure. Vargas relaxed her earlier order, finding the Trump administration had shown it set up a process to appropriately vet and train the employees….

  3. Is there still any idiot who believes that Republicans really care about the “ deficit?”

    I especially enjoy it when these Republican sheep start mouthing off about “ spending .” Then their owner, Trump,tells them to shut up and do what they’re told and the sheep meekly line up to vote the way their master tells them to.

    Oh and the “ deficit?”

    • The deficit and national debt are part of a strategy to force the shrinkage of government and government payments. Scream about it when you want to recuce spending but not when you want to reduce taxes.

      The three reactionary slogans (now that Stop the Steal has become inoperable) are:
      Flood the Zone;
      Drain the Swamp (including pesky regulators and the professional civil service); and
      Starve the Beast (run up deficits so that there’s no money left for spending).

Since the beginning of 2025, the federal government has spent $2.4 trillion — $166 billion more than in the same four months of 2024. Because of strong tax receipts in April 2025, the deficit is down a modest $5 billion in the first four months of this year compared to last year….

  6. At least in regards to people expressing opinions online, the reaction of Democrats to Joe Walsh saying he is officially joining their party is basically, “eww, we don’t want him.”

    Small tents are cozier.

      • I do not think you understand the point.

        Walsh can do whatever he wants. He says he wants to be a Democrat. However, it seems like many Democrats do not want people joining them unless they agree completely on every issue, such as abortion for example, or because think a person who might have disagreed with them in the past is irredeemable.

        The amount of online ire from the left directed at Liz Cheney for actually working very hard to try to get people to vote for Kamala Harris was really remarkable.

        On the other hand, Republicans do not seem to care as much about disagreements or what a person was saying or advocating for in the past. For the most part, as long as you pledge fealty to Trump, you are welcomed in.

        Democrats seem to want to be far more exclusive, with a lot more litmus tests. That makes it harder to win elections.

          I have been saying here that Democrats ARE going to HAVE TO widen their tent for 2026 and 2028…

          Those of the party that DEMAND old policy ‘purity’ did NOT get the message with Trump’s , House and Senate 2024 Republican WINS….

        • Hot rumor is that Walsh is moving to S.C. to seek the totally worthless Democratic nomination for Governor next year(No Democrat has been elected Governor since 1998).

          Walsh quite obviously doesn’t understand SC politics at all.Cong.Jim Clyburn will pretty much choose the Democratic sacrificial lamb.Oh there will be a primary( in which the vote will be about 70% Black) but the result will be ,whoever Clyburn endorses will win.

          Then that nominee will lose the election to the Republican nominee by 10-15 points.

  8. The Elon Musk/Donald Trump divorce was perhaps as predictable as anything, but it is beautiful and spectacular to see unfold today. It is getting ratcheted up by the hour.

    Elon apparently gives no f’s. He is saying he is going to start his own party and that Trump is hiding the Epstein client list because he is on it.

    Unless they can somehow kiss and make up, this is going to have serious political ramifications. Republicans were counting on Musk to be their checkbook for years to come. (Of course,Democrats were planning on running against Elon in the short-term also.)

    In the meanwhile, Trump put out a statement saying he will end all of Elon’s government contacts and will bankrupt him.

                  • Sad as it may be, the “average American” just does not care about this. They may even say they “disapprove”, but it does not directly affect their lives, and thus they do not care. They think the protestors are a bunch of losers.

                    People who hate Trump will continue to hate him, as they have for a long time now. People who love him will make an excuse for literally anything. Most people are not focused on these fights.

                    The “average American” only cares about their personal finances, as James Carville commanded so back in 1992. The Constitution is an abstract concept. If “chaos” starts to hit them directly, they may start caring. Right now, the “chaos” is being framed as being caused by illegal immigrants and radical leftists.

                    Trump and his enablers are reveling in this. They do not think Democrats are going to be helped and are probably right.
