The pandemic IS subsiding……
This seems to point to the theory that the virus runs on a two month up and down cycle….
The impact of vaccinations is clear in regions with the highest uptake. Puerto Rico recorded a seven-day average of 1,121 new cases on Aug. 23 as it wrestled with delta; that figure had declined to 105 as of Tuesday. About 73 percent of Puerto Ricans are immunized.
But a handful of states are still struggling to turn the tide, especially as colder weather brings more people indoors again. In Montana, 45 out of every 100,000 people are hospitalized due to covid-19 — the highest rate in the country. Just over half the state’s population is fully vaccinated — below the national rate of 57.5 percent. Colorado, Michigan, New Mexico, Utah and Vermont have not yet stemmed the initial increases in cases and deaths triggered by the delta variant surge….

Fact check.
Cases are declining ;however, they also declined after the winter wave earlier this year.Indeed by May-June they declined briefly to almost 10000 a day.(for comparison ,they are presently running at about 70000 a day and slowly falling.
Some experts are claiming this was the last “wave” and that henceforth we will be dealing with various outbreaks in different locations ,but no nationwide outbreak as seen previously.Others contend that the jury is still out and that there is still not enough known about the disease itself ,nor the variants thereof ,to make such a declaration.
Regardless, they all agree that vaccination is the key and that the fewer unvaccinated people the less chance the disease has to mutate and spread.
So,is the pandemic essentially over after this delta wave? That remains to be seen.Hopefully it is ,but anyone simply banking on that as some reason not to be vaccinated? Is making a serious mistake.

The winter months, especially here in Northern California, will drive people indoors and I suspect another spike in cases will occur. The only way to head this off is to be vaccinated.
We’re currently waiting for our booster shots before we venture to the UK for Christmas, and that might be a serious mistake.
I find it odd, and slightly pathological that someone would use their excuse for never getting vaccinated as the case numbers are going down. Don’t they know if only takes one exposure?

There will be covid virus’s forever….
The common cold is actually several….
I have posted a linked piece that points to two month phenomena ….
The author of the piece agree’s that vaccines DO help cut the spikes…
But regardless they top seem to be several months events….
Vaccines, masks and social distancing DO seem to be factors that help cut the size of the spike’s….
I have said here that the ‘pandemic’ seems to be over…
That does NOT mean the virus and different variants are gone…..

Yes DSD….
I have been saying essentially the same thing….
I have tried to ignore the personal stuff….
I HAVE tried to get it to stop to no avail….
Yesterday I just had to have fun with it….
I will try to refrain from it….
I believe Jack has said the same thing….
I can only hope that others can do so also and try to stay on topic…

You have tried to get people to stop being personal? You typed that with a straight face?
You will refrain from it?
The only thing you seem to have refrained from is getting vaccinated James. Are you going to be vaccinated? Or am I getting too personal?

Interesting on Virus numbers Nov. 1st….
Wash Post ‘reported’ case numbers show a levelling off in the past week while NY Times case numbers continue to show double digit dropping in the last two weeks and yesterday…
All ages full vaccinated 58%
.

The New York Times numbers for the past week have leveled off at around 72000.
Most experts contend that numbers have to drop below 10000 daily before we even talk about the pandemic ending.
We are far from that .
As long as this huge number of virus spreaders aka “unvaccinated “ remain? The pandemic will continue.
Keith says
Easy to end the pandemic, get vaccinated.

“On November 1, the Office of Management and Budget completed its regulatory review of the emergency temporary standard. The Federal Register will publish the emergency temporary standard in the coming days,” a Labor Department spokesperson said in a statement.
OSHA has been crafting an emergency temporary standard (ETS) to enact the mandate, which requires that all companies with at least 100 employees require vaccines or weekly testing for employees. Biden announced the sweeping vaccine-or-test mandate in September….

COVID will not be with us forever if everyone is vaccinated. Right James?
