But I don’t know if this matters….
We’re talking g about Texas where Democrats start off strong and NEVER make it to the finish line in state political voting…..
As Governor Greg Abbott faces reelection in 2022, a slight majority of voters say 51 – 42 percent that he does not deserve to be reelected, according to a Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pea-ack) University poll of Texas registered voters released today. In June 2021, voters were split, as 48 percent said he did not deserve to be reelected and 46 percent said he did.
Today, Governor Abbott receives a divided 44 – 47 percent job approval rating, marking the first time Abbott’s score is underwater since Quinnipiac University began polling in Texas in April 2018. In today’s poll, Republicans approve 83 – 12 percent, independents are divided with 43 percent approving and 47 percent disapproving, and Democrats disapprove 89 – 6 percent.
Texas voters say 50 – 33 percent that they do not think Beto O’Rourke would make a good governor, while 17 percent did not offer an opinion. Voters say 49 – 25 percent that they do not think Matthew McConaughey would make a good governor, while 26 percent did not offer an opinion.
“A lukewarm to downright cool response to an Abbott rerun in Austin, but compared to the high-profile young guns who may have eyes on a possible gubernatorial run, the governor is tall in the saddle,” said Quinnipiac University Polling Analyst Tim Malloy.
Voters were asked about Abbott’s handling of four separate issues, and he received one positive score out of the four…..
Note…
The above piece has President Biden in a LOT worst polling shape…..
Trump on the other hand is strongly ay 88% approval , which is TONS higher than his national approval.….
Beto or Texas Actor made Mathew don’t seem to be much of choice for Texas poll takers either…..

They’ll ReElect Abbott.
Republicans often like to play this game.they “claim” to be against the Republican ,then as the election nears ,they will say the Democrat is even worse and they are being “forced “to vote for the Republican (who they really don’t like).
Republicans are often ashamed of their goofball candidates but anything is better than a Democrat.
Seen this game before.

And Texas’s new voting suppression measures will help.
Scott P says
I wouldn’t call this race for Abbott at this point. Republicans have been consistently losing ground in Texas and the new abortion law isn’t helping. Also fatigue after three terms of Abbott may cause enough apathy for a Democrat to win. Though it’s still an uphill battle at this time.

I point out that ur correct Scott…..
Texas voters tend to come home to GOPer’s on Election Day

I think Cruz’s 2018 margin over O’Rourke is about where it lands. Close but not quite.

Gov. Abbott was interviewed by Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday this weekend, and among other squirmy, deceptive outrages said this about bringing children of rape to birth. Well worth a Stupid GOP Pol o’Day:
…CHRIS WALLACE, FOX NEWS ANCHOR:
Governor, in the time we have left, I want to ask you about two other questions.
You signed a law in May that bans abortion after a fetal heartbeat can be detected, around six weeks. And there is no exception and that law for
either rape or incest.
Here’s what you said when you signed the law.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
ABBOTT: Goal number one in the state of Texas is to eliminate rape so that no woman, no person will be a victim of rape.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
WALLACE: Now, in 2019, which is the last year that we have numbers for, almost 15,000 cases of rape were reported in your state of Texas, and almost everyone says that that’s a severe undercount, there are a lot more cases that just aren’t reported.
Is it reasonable to say to somebody who is the victim of rape and might not understand that they are pregnant, you know, until six weeks, well, don’t worry about it because we’re going to eliminate rape as a problem in the state of Texas?
ABBOTT: Well, there’s multiple things I have to say in answer to this. But the first thing, obviously, is that survivors of sexual assault, they deserve support, care, and compassion. And Texas is stepping up to make sure that we provide that by signing a law and creating in the governor’s office a sexual assault survivors task force.
But separately from that, Chris, I got to point out about the ways that I have fought to go to arrest and apprehend and try to eliminate rape. I sought the death penalty for repeat rapists —
WALLACE: But — but — but, Governor — Governor, excuse — Governor, excuse me, because we are running out of time. There were more than 15,000 rapes in 2019 when you were governor. Let me just ask this question, a state representative, Republican state representative is — says that he’s going to offer a new measure that would restore the exception to the Texas abortion law for victims of rape and incest.
If that came to your desk, will you sign it or not?
ABBOTT: Well, we’ve got to go back, Chris, to what the reason was why the law was passed in the first place. And the goal is to protect the lives of every child with a heartbeat. And so we’re — we’re working to achieve that goal.
WALLACE: Including — including a child — including —
ABBOTT: Chris — I — I got to point this out, Chris, and that is what this — this —
WALLACE: Including a child of a rape — of a rape?
ABBOTT: This — this goal is consistent with what the United States Supreme Court has written, and that is states have the ability to make sure that we protect the health and safety of both the mother and the child. And that’s what we are seeking to do here.
And I have to add this, and that is, Texas just provided more than $100 million in funding for pregnancy centers across the state of Texas to help those who want to make sure that they will (ph) be able to carry a child but —
CHRIS WALLACE: But so just — just to lock this down, are
you saying, sir — I don’t mean to interrupt, but are you saying that you will not sign an exception for rape and incest?
ABBOTT: Well, first, I’ve got to tell you, Chris, you’re — you’re making a hypothetical that is not going to happen because that bill is not going to reach my desk. But, second, again, the goal is to protect the life of every child with a heartbeat.
WALLACE: OK.
