Between the lines: Biden is at Camp David this weekend, not at his Delaware beach house. He can relax there, but also has full comms.
- People can come and go without detection, and he avoids the optics of a beach vacation amid a mass evacuation.
The big picture: The U.S. embassy in Kabul wasn’t just a diplomatic building. It also was a major intelligence center with paper records and equipment there that the U.S. will remove or destroy. Protocols are in place for just such an emergency….

Really, well he’s about to do it. The only thing this war did was to make Dick Cheney’s friends rich (or richer). It did nothing to bring democracy to Afghanistan. George Bush invaded this country 20 years ago, and the immediate goal was accomplished. Should have left then because everyone, and I do mean everyone, knew the minute we left the Afgan folks would fold like a cheap lawn chair. So stop clutching your pearls James. This was written in stone the minute Trump said we were withdrawing. He didn’t do it before the election because he knew this would happen. The difference, Trump would have never evacuated those people from shithole countries.
