New York City….The “BIG Apple’ IS the largest American city….
With almost 9 million counted resident’s it’s larger in population that most states and a lot of countries…
But?
The city actually MUST follow the laws of the state…
And THAT sets up a natural push-pull better the NYC Mayor and NYS Governor….
With out going Mayor DeBalsio and outgoing Governor Cuomo there was a constant friction….
New Yorkers are hoping with incoming NY Governor Hochul and to be expected elected NYC Mayor Adams there will be less ‘ friction’…..
Adams and Hochul spoke on Tuesday after Cuomo announced his departure. And on Wednesday, Adams said he was hopeful for a positive working relationship.
“When you turn over the state to an individual, you need someone with a steady hand. She has a steady hand. And I believe that she’s going to be able to navigate the challenges we’re having, and then voters will decide what’s going to happen in the future,” he told reporters.
Adams said he’s developed a rapport with Hochul — who announced she’d run for governor Thursday — since she took over her current role.
“When she became lieutenant governor, we really developed a great relationship during her time,” he said.
Adams had called for Cuomo to resign over sexual harassment allegations — but also appeared alongside him in Brooklyn last month. The embattled governor for his part lavished praise on Adams — not missing an opportunity even as he was engulfed in scandal to needle his old rival de Blasio.
“It’s hard for me to work with an administration that is hyper-political and is not competent,” Cuomo said in June. “I need a competent partner in local government.”
Adams, his backers argue, might have been better positioned to navigate the relationship with Albany even if Cuomo had remained in office. He served as a state Senator before being elected to his current post as Brooklyn borough president.
“He has a different understanding of the way things operate,” said state Sen. Diane Savino (D-Staten Island). “It’s always a shock to a mayor when he realizes he has to negotiate with us. Eric already knew that, so it puts him in a better position. He wouldn’t make those mistakes.”…
Note….
NY Mayor DeBlasio will still be office for 5 1/2 months…

Hmmmmm?
Spike Lee is headlining a Martha’s Vineyard fundraiser on Tuesday for state Attorney General Letitia James — whose office’s recent sexual harassment report forced the resignation of Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
The invitation says the fundraiser at the Academy Award winner’s residence is to “support the re-election” of James as attorney general.
But some political wags speculate that James may decide instead to run in the Democratic primary for governor next year.
The campaign event has an Olympics theme. Someone who donates or raises $20,000 is honored as a “gold host.”
A contributor who donates or raises $10,000 is a silver host and a $5,000 contributor is a bronze host.
James also held a fundraiser in Southampton last Saturday….

Cuomo unrepentant….
In Andrew Cuomo’s first interview since announcing his resignation earlier this week, the New York governor said he didn’t want to “drag the state” through a months-long impeachment investigation — only to win.
“I feel like I did the right thing. I did the right thing for the state,” Cuomo told New York Magazine of his decision to resign. “I’m not gonna drag the state through the mud, through a three-month, four-month impeachment, and then win, and have made the State Legislature and the state government look like a ship of fools.”…

So Andrew Cuomo says he’s beat impeachment?
So that has forced the NY State Assembly to release some sort of end report instead trying to make this whole thing go away…..
