Hmmmm?
House Minority Leader REPUBLICAN McCarthy is NOT happy at this…..
Can anybody tell me why?
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) said Tuesday that Republicans “will not forget” if telecommunications companies turn phone and email records over to the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.
The comment follows the select committee sending letters to 35 companies Monday asking them to preserve a number of records — something McCarthy argues “would put every American with a phone or computer in the crosshairs of a surveillance state run by Democratic politicians.”
The letters do not reveal whose information is being sought but specifically ask for the records of those involved in rallies to protest the certification of election results — a group that includes lawmakers.

Republicans issuing threats?
That’s now a daily occurrence.
These southern virus spreading Republican Governors are always threatening someone or the other who objects to their efforts to sicken children and old folks.
All of them are a despicable lot.

Mo Brooks (born in Charleston SC) who supported efforts to reverse the election and wore body armor on the Jan 6 attempted coup is upset that the .Jan 6 Commission wants to look at his phone records. Wasn’t everyone wearing body armor that day?
Keith says
If Mo wins his seat, and since Trump endorsed him I expect him to, then Alabama will take over as the dumbest Congressional Delegation from Oklahoma.
It will be Mo and Tommy Stupidville.
Zreebs says
I don’t know Keith. Langford blamed the Sandy Hook massacre on welfare moms over-medicating their kids. And Inhofe’s comments on many things are legendary. Oklahoma remains competitive as the most stupid Senate delegation, I would have to do more research on Oklahoma congressmen, but I am not recalling any brilliance there.
Keith says
My response hinges on if Mo Brooks is elected. I actually know Jim Inhofe, he served on a House Committee that I worked for, and yes, he is very stupid.
But he had the good sense not to appear before a bunch of Republicans trying to overthrow the government. And Langford actually accepted the election results.
Now I know it’s degrees, but if Mo is elected they will shoot to the top of the chart.

Tennessee has to be in contention, as well. I’ve never heard the names Blackburn or Hagerty, DesJarlais or Mark Green in the news in a good respect.
Ghost of SE says
As far as Alabama goes, at least they have a Democrat in the mix, unlike Oklahoma. And Brooks at least back in the day was considered something of a Trump skeptic by party standards, enough to where national Republicans passed him up in 2017 in favor of propping up Strange Luther’s failed bid against Roy Moore.
A name from AL I don’t hear a lot who has to be one of the most soulless, brain dead people in the chamber is Robert Aderholt, Exurban Birmingham Congressman and the most senior member of the state delegation, after Senator Shelby, who voted against certifying the election and goes along with the vapid tools in the party base. But then, I don’t imagine most of the others in that delegation are any different. But some people say that experience in Congress makes one more apt to forge cross party alliances and eschew the base bull in favor of an actual record of getting things done, and that douche for sure hasnt.

Liz Cheney Named Vice Chair of Select Committee
Democratic Chairman of the January 6 Select Committee Bennie Thompson announced that Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) will become the panel’s vice chair, the latest sign that the Democrat-run committee is attempting to strike a bipartisan tone as it prepares to wade into politically contested waters, CNN reports.

The head of the conservative House Freedom Caucus is planning to send a letter to House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy this week calling on him to change the rules in order to remove Reps. Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger from the Republican Conference for their roles on the January 6 select committee, CNN has learned.
Rep. Andy Biggs of Arizona — a loyalist to former President Donald Trump who helped spearhead the push to overturn the election results in Congress — is circulating the letter to his colleagues to collect more signatures.
This letter comes the same week that CNN reported the January 6 select committee is asking telecom companies to preserve the records of certain members of Congress, including Biggs. And Biggs suggests in the letter that he’s pushing to boot Cheney and Kinzinger from the conference because the select committee is now investigating Republican members and he wants the House GOP to be able to “strategize” and “protect our own” without having Kinzinger or Cheney present at conference meetings.
Cheney and Kinzinger no longer attend the weekly GOP conference meetings.
“This proposal is not because of a policy or political difference, but because some members have chosen to work with the Democrats to investigate and potentially remove Republican Members from the House,” the letter says, according to a draft copy obtained by CNN. “Republican Conference meetings are an opportunity for elected House Republicans to come together and strategize the most effective path to push back on the radical policies of Speaker (Nancy) Pelosi and the Democrats.”
Biggs denies January 6 was an insurrection in the letter and calls Cheney and Kinzinger “spies” for the Democrats….
