The deluge from the storm could induce flash flooding as well as river flooding in sections of Long Island, New England, according to the NHC.
A “Storm Surge Warning” is in effect for the south shore of Long Island from Mastic Beach to Montauk Point New York, the north shore of Long Island from Montauk Point to Flushing New York, Flushing New York to Chatham Massachusetts, as well as Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard, and Block Island, according to a Hurricane Henri update….

Previously, a hurricane warning was in effect in parts of Long Island, Connecticut, and Rhode Island, before it was downgraded in the early hours Sunday.
A Hurricane Warning is in effect for the South shore of Long Island from Fire Island Inlet to Montauk Point, North shore of Long Island from Port Jefferson Harbor to Montauk Point, New Haven Connecticut to west of Westport Massachusetts, according to NHC….

As of 7 a.m., the storm was moving north at 18 mph, with sustained winds as high as 70 mph, an advisory warned. On Sunday, footage tweeted about 7 a.m. showed. traffic-disrupting flooding on roads causing a road closure in Middlesex County, New Jersey.
Hurricane Henri started to wreak havoc on New York City early Sunday, causing flooding that delayed subways and disrupted some vehicle traffic. That came after late Saturday severe rain prematurely ended the city’s long-anticipated, star-studded “homecoming concert” held in Central Park….
