The former Jersey Governor is said to seriously thinking of getting in Republican Presidential nomination sweepstakes drawing (for him a second time) like several others already …
People gotta stop saying Donald Trump has frozen the Republican Presidential file;d for 2024….
Right now?
He hasn’t….
Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is seriously considering running for president in 2024, three people familiar with his thinking tell Axios.
Driving the news: While Christie isn’t saying anything publicly about his thinking — besides telling radio host Hugh Hewitt he’s not ruling it out— people close to him have an early sense of the rationale and outlines of a potential candidacy.
The big picture: Absent another run by former President Trump, the field would be wide open.
- Christie, whose 2016 bid for the nomination was short-lived, has told friends that he’d be the only person in the 2024 field with executive experience who has run a presidential race before.
- That’s a clear shot at one potential rival, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who’s enjoying a surge of popularity from Republican voters for his handling of COVID-19 and his sparring with the media but hasn’t yet endured the scrutiny of a presidential bid.
- Christie could run on a reputation for toughness that appeals to Trump’s base minus the former president’s recklessness, said one source. Another said he has a mix of combativeness and charisma that Republicans are looking for to take on President Biden and Democrats.
- He has potential crossover appeal to blue-collar and suburban right-of-center voters….

Biden vs Christie, so much charisma that they’ll have to move the conventions to Glam City.

Chris Christie says he’s not waiting for anybody to decide whether to run for president in 2024 — even former President Trump.
The former New Jersey governor and 2016 GOP presidential candidate insisted Tuesday he’ll do what he thinks is best for himself and the country….

If Christie is being truthful that he will do what is best for himself, does that mean he is now committed to losing weight?

I don’t regard Christie as a serious candidate and would place his chances as similiar to Joe Walsh’s challenge to Trump in 2020.
jamesb says
I agree that Christie isn’t a serious contender…
Zreebs says
If Trump doesn’t run, I say DeSantis is the favorite, but I wouldn’t count Christie out. He did poorly in 2016, but he was running against Trump. Christie is loud and obnoxious, and that type of candidate appeals to most Republicans.

I agree that the Florida Gov probably is the early leader behind Trump now…

In my opinion Christie’s shot was in 2012.
But he didn’t run that year.

Yes I agree with that.
He’s yesterday’s news.
I agree that Christies bombast would seems to make him an attractive candidate for the Trump Party ;however,Trump himself floated Christie as his VP candidate in 2016.The idea was immediately dismissed by Republican pros and Trump intimates .Most found him too “liberal.”
Zreebs says
Trump himself was considered too liberal by some who thought he could not win the nomination, so he needed to name a far right conservative to be his VP nominee.
Christie gave Trump an A for his performance, and he can accurately point out he was one of Trump’s first supporters. I would expect Christie to make nice with Trump.
I am not sure Republicans really care about nominating a far right conservative. And I am not sure that Christie was to the left of Romney or McCain anyway. Although Christie is not an early favorite, Republicans have nominated a moderate governor from a blue state before. Christie would have a much better chance than Hogan.

Yo Z?
Remember the picture of Christie walking WITH Obama ‘smiling’?

Oh my God!

I got ya Z…….
I understand ur point….

Hogan has approval ratings in the 60s or 70s as he completes his term in Maryland.
Christie left office (in a less blue state) with approval ratings in the 20s.

Christie Is the Most Unpopular Ex-New Jersey Governor
A new Monnouth poll finds former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie with an upside down 26% to 64% favorability rating — “making him the most unpopular living governor by far.”
“When asked to describe what they remember most about Christie’s eight years in office, 1 in 4 mention the Bridgegate episode (26%). This is followed by his closure of state parks and a related meme of him sitting on the beach (12%). Another 4% reference corruption or scandal in general.”
“Only 9% of state residents mention his response to Superstorm Sandy and just 6% mention accomplishments on the state budget, taxes, and pensions.”
CG says
The history on this was pretty well established back in 2016 but might have been forgotten.
Trump wanted to pick Christie, He was vetoed by Jared Kushner. That was the only vote that mattered. Christie had prosecuted Kushiner’s father in the past. Christie would never get a White House job or Administration post of any sort. They did give him Covid however.
The Trump kids wanted Gingrich and Trump was prepared to go along with that. Then, Paul Manafort put out a release, basically on his own, saying it was Mike Pence, leaving Trump with no choice.
With either Christie or Gingrinch, Trump would have lost.
