People familiar with Vance’s inquiry say it has taken on new urgency since the recent hiring of Mark F. Pomerantz — an attorney who prosecuted Gambino crime family boss John Gotti’s son in the 1990s — on a special assignment.
Vance has sat in on recent interviews, conducted virtually because of the coronavirus pandemic, but let Pomerantz lead the questioning, people familiar with the investigation said….

Officials from the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office took possession of documents potentially related to the Trump Organization and its chief financial officer, Allen Weisselberg, on Thursday as part of an ongoing investigation into the former president’s finances.
The Washington Post reported that investigators took possession of at least three boxes of documents and a laptop computer from Jennifer Weisselberg, Allen Weisselberg’s former daughter-in-law, after obtaining a grand jury subpoena for the materials.
Jennifer Weisselberg until 2018 was married to Allen Weisselberg’s son Barry Weisselberg, who manages Central Park’s Wollman ice rink for the Trump Organization. She has previously claimed, according to Yahoo News, to have numerous documents relating to the Trump Organization’s finances as well as the Weisselberg family’s which she obtained through divorce litigation….
