Actually?
So is this dog….
The defendant IS guilt as sin….
The jury members , who wWHERE among those in danger , AT the Capitol on January 6th, have indicated they will NOT convict…..
This whole circus is NOT about the accused…
It IS about the jobs of the jury members , who are afraid their voters back home will vote for someone else if the actually hold the defendant, Donald Trump , accountable for his egging on the protest that turned into assaults, vandalism and a few deaths in the very halls and room’s the Senator’s are in today…..
Senators on both sides of the aisle are showing signs of fatigue as former President Trump’s impeachment trial stretches into its third day.
At least 18 GOP senators were missing from their seats during the second hour of arguments. Even some Democrats appeared to be getting weary.
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), 79, was spotted slumping over at his desk, not turning his head to watch videos at one point as House impeachment managers continued to make their case about Trump’s statements and actions surrounding the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.
Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) was at his desk, tapping his shoes and knees together as he propped himself up by his elbows in an armchair.
Sens. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) and Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) stood at the back of the chamber, leaning against the marble columns to take a break from hours of sitting.
Democratic strategist David Axelrodwarned House managers not to over-argue their case a day after they presented new, harrowing video of the Capitol siege.
“Wondering if the managers would have been smart to quit and simply sum up with the lack of remorse argument after their incredibly tight powerful case yesterday?” he tweeted.
Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), a staunch Trump ally, said the managers’ argument is losing steam the longer it goes on….
Senators aren’t clamoring for either House managers or former President Trump‘s team to request to call witnesses, as the impeachment trial appears poised to wrap in a matter of days.
Days into the proceeding, no senator has explicitly called for witnesses — a move that would drag out the trial for days if not weeks.
“I think the case has been made. I don’t know what witnesses would add,” said Sen. Angus King (I-Maine), who caucuses with Democrats….

And DSD?
As this shows….
They are ALL past the outage and what to head home by the weekend….
EVERYBODY WILL be happy…..
Except those who want Donald Trump held to account for his actions that day….
THAT does NOT matter, eh?

House Dem’s finish their case…

Another reason why this whole circus is bull shit….
Members of the jury meeting with e the defense attorney’s?
A group of GOP senators met with former President Trump’s legal team on Thursday to discuss strategy as they prepare to present their opening arguments in the impeachment trial.
Sens. Ted Cruz (Texas), Mike Lee (R-Utah) and Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) were spotted entering the meeting, which took place in a room near the Senate chamber that Trump’s team is using as a workspace.
Cruz told reporters after the meeting that they were talking strategy for the defense’s opening arguments on Friday….

Impeachment trials are not normal trials. Senate Democrats were coordinating with Bill Clinton’s defense team in 1999 as well.

AGAIN?
Members of the jury meeting with the defense attorney’s?

@ChrisCillizza
Nothing inappropriate about the jurors meeting with the defendant’s legal team?
I’m no lawyer but…

I assume you will also say it was wrong in 1999, right?

Also, Senate Democrats/jurors are definitely meeting and have relationships with the Managers/prosecutors.
It goes both ways. This is Congress, not a courtroom. This is a political process.
More than ever, it should be clear to America, after the evidence presented the past week, that DJT belongs in a real courtroom as a defendant facing charges that would lock him up for many years.

Talk to your fellow Republicans.
Most of them think the criminal should still be in the White House.

However, I agree that an Impeachment trial is not a legal proceeding per se more like a quasi legal/ political one.
And no ,Senators meeting with counsel for both sides is no big deal .

5 to 10 Republican Senators May Vote to Convict
“Six GOP senators voted this week to move forward with President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial. But Republicans believe several more of them may be considering conviction,” Politico reports.
“As the Trump defense made its argument on Friday, Republicans privately estimated between 5 and 10 of their senators are seriously weighing conviction. There’s no official whip count, and the matter is not being discussed at party meetings, leaving many in the 50-member conference to only guess at their colleague’s inclinations.”
