Third parties don’t work on the national level in America and a Trump ‘party’ would destroy the Republicans party…And Trump probably would be a failure at that , like other things…
Donald Trump’s still-active presidential campaign committee officially disavowed political groups affiliated with the nascent “Patriot Party” on Monday.
Why it matters: Trump briefly floated the possibility of creating a new political party to compete with the GOP — with him at the helm. But others have formed their own “Patriot Party” entities during the past week, and Trump’s team wants to make clear it has nothing to do with them.
What’s happening: Donald J. Trump for President Inc., the former president’s official campaign committee, filed a notice with the Federal Election Commission officially distancing itself from a new Patriot Party PAC.
- “DJTFP is placing this disavowal notice on the public record out of concern for confusion among the public, which may be misled to believe that Patriot Party’s activities have been authorized by Mr. Trump or DJTFP — or that contributions to this unauthorized committee are being made to DJTFP — when that is not true,” the committee wrote.
What we’re hearing: In a statement to Axios prior to Monday’s filing, Trump spokesperson Jason Miller said his team has nothing to do with that group or any similar effort….

Wrong, it is called the Republican Party…lol…
These folks going to bend over backwards to appease the Trump wing of the party…you already see it in the senate…no unity, no peace…
Nancy needs to break up Joe’s relief bill into small peaces, vote each one in one Democratic lines, then let Republicans vote no on each piece and then pass it al anyway on a reconciliation bill…Fuck the Republicans Twice…and give something to the Democrats to go to the polls with in 2022…thats what the prize has to be on…

Check Political Wire for Rep Adam Kinzinger’s view on his future as a Republican now that he is on record as opposing Trunop
“you have to accept you’re already dead”
Zreebs says
Kinzinger is correct that he not only will be primaried, but he will likely lose that primary.
Kudos to Kinzinger for doing the right thing. I will be rooting for him to be renominated.
CG says
Assuming you do not move, you will probably get the chance to vote for him in a statewide Republican primary.
Zreebs says
For what office? Why do you assume he will get the nomination?
CG says
Nothing has been announced yet but the anticipation is that he will run for Governor. Possibly the U.S. Senate.
In a state like Illinois, he would stand a decent chance of winning a plurality in a multi-candidate field. Kinzinger has certainly demonstrated political success in his career up to this point to win his seat in Congress and to keep it, especially when he was lumped into a district with a more veteran GOP incumbent, that he went on to defeat in an upset. Someone has to at least try. His remarks in the story out today indicate he is someone who welcomes the battle.
But in order for Kinzinger to win in Illinois or people like him in other states, it will take the votes, in primaries, of those civic minded Democrats and Independents who are sincere about wanting to save the Republican Party from Trumpism.
Scott P says
I’d certainly root for someone like Kinzinger to win a statewide GOP primary.
But I don’t know what his odds would be in that regard.
Downstate Republicans haven’t won any recent statewide primaries for Governor or Senate that I recall. But in the Trump age of the GOP I could see some wacko from Mascoutah or Decatur being the nominee–and getting rightly skunked in the general.
Zreebs says
I will be open to voting for Kinzinger if he runs for a state office, but probably not if he runs for US Senate.
Keith says
He wants to run for Governor, he can’t be elected to the Senate. But when Trump endorses his opponent in the GOP primary he will lose. Republicans created Trump and now they will be paying the price.
CG says
How many opponents will be vying for the Trump primary vote?
Divide and conquer. The fact is there are a lot of very rich Republicans in Illinois who do not like Donald Trump and who could help Kinzinger raise a lot of money for Governor.
My Name Is Jack says
Or maybe Kinzinger should run as an Independent?
This could test your theory that there is room for a Center Right Party on the national scene in a more localized setting.
CG says
So, it would be Pritzker, the richest man in politics, some right-wing anti-masker, and Kinzinger as an Independent.
Who knows what might happen, but in a “one shot” primary deal, that does not require a run-off or anything like that, it makes far more sense, especially in Illinois, where he would likely attract significant financial backers, for Kinzinger to take the chance on a primary.
Aside from all of this, Illinois Democrats have a gerrymander plan to put Kinzinger and *two* other Republican House Members in the same Congressional district, and force them to either leave Congress or face off against each other, in a map designed to get rid of two Republicans.
Zreebs says
Well there is certainly no room for a new Center Right party in Illinois.
CG says
It’s hard enough in Illinois for any Republican to win (and Kinzinger is not exactly a “moderate.”)
A “center-right” Independent effort would make more sense nationally.

Out of curiosity I checked P1 to see about candidates mentioned for the JL GOP gubernatorial primary. Ron lists Eric h “Mangos” Miller. That’s a name I haven’t heard in a long time. He also lists downstate Congressman Rodney Davis–who went out of his way to paint himself as a moderate to get reelected but is pretty much a Trump stooge. The others didn’t look familiar save Tom Ricketts
Scott P says
Correction–Todd Ricketrs. Ron also lists Kinzinger and frequent candidate Bill Brady. The rest were unfamiliar to me.
CG says
Mancow Muller, famous radio figure in Chicago, though currently out of work. He’s basically a Libertarian. I used to listed to him back in High School and from time to time (when he had a job) up until the pandemic hit and I no longer had a morning commute. I doubt he runs.
Todd (not Tom) is a potential candidate. I doubt Rodney Davis would run.
The one that is mentioned most is Downstate anti-mask Rep Darren Bailey or right-wing nutjob Jeanne Ives. And there is always Jim Oberweis..
CG says
State Rep. Tom Demmer is a promising young candidate, but he probably will run for something statewide below Governor.
CG says
Bill Brady just stepped down as the State Senate Republican Leader. I have not heard anything about him wanting to run for anything again, beyond the listing on P1.
The new Senate Republican Leader (as well as the House Leader) in Illinois are pretty anti-Trump and have been vocal about how the party needs to move away from him.
Scott P says
Oh yeah I remember hearing about that anti mask nut Bailey.
