Some of us scoffed at the idea that Donald Trump would remain the ‘leader’ of a united Grand ole’ Party after he left the Presidency….
THAT could be an understatement….
It does appear that the Trump statue among more and MORE Republicans is crumbling….
Reality is beginning to rear its head…
The Grand ole Party is having issues between it’s top and bottom…
Trump supporters may still be with him…
But the top of the party has begun to use Tuesdays US Senate loses and Wednesdays actions as a way to walk away from the big guy….

Those losses and his decision Wednesday to incite supporters to head to Capitol Hill, where they rioted, have let loose pent-up furies against Trump in his final two weeks in office….

“The president needs to understand that his actions were the problem,” Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (R-S.C.) said at a news conference, just months after winning reelection by embracing Trump and his politics and weeks after golfing with him.
Graham called for the prosecution and imprisonment of every person who forced their way into the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday, people whom Trump had sympathized with. Graham dismissed them as “domestic terrorists.”
At the Republican National Committee, communications director Michael Ahrens released a statement Wednesday on Twitter also calling the riot “domestic terrorism” and denouncing as “unfounded conspiracy theories” the false claims of election fraud peddled by Trump that motivated the attack….

“There is going to be this very difficult balancing act,” he said. “The issues that he pushed resonated in bringing new people into the Republican Party, more blue-collar oriented. But his personality flawspushed away people that had been in the Republican Party in the suburban communities. We have to make sure we make that balance work.”

But Democrats in Wash DC will be VERY aware they cannot just go running to the left….
Since you are always offering “advice” to the Democrats,why not offer your Republican friends the advice that they should be “very aware” that supporting a vicious animal for political gain is not a good look ,nor is the wearing of little flag lapels, waiving American flags whike mouthing pompous slogans and pronouncing oneself a “patriot” as you support said Animal and his cohorts in the Congress and the media.
if you are talking about an online blog, I said all this about Trump from Day 1 in 2015. I knew who he was from the instant. I continued saying it as others, who once shared that view of him, fell under his spell and became apologists. But I don’t post there anymore (save for a drive by here or there.) It’s beyond hope and not worth it for my health to try.

Trump Supporters Harass Lindsey Graham
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) was verbally harassed by about a dozen Donald Trump supporters at Reagan National Airport on Friday after his public break with the president, Politico reports.
Several people repeatedly loudly yelled at the South Carolina Republican that he was a “traitor.” One woman called him a “liar,” while another said, “You work for the people, you work for us, do you hear me?”
Yeah – I saw a couple of clips of that. Graham required police protection with Republicans following him and calling him a “piece of shit”. Perhaps I should have, but I didn’t feel the least bit sorry for him.
And in truth, he did betray Trump, but only because it was in his political interest to do so, as it was previously in his political interest to embrace Trump. Graham is one of the most despicable figures in politics. like Trump, he truly stands for nothing but remaining in power.
There is still a lot of support for Trump among important elements of the Republican Party.
Religious “leader”( huckster?) Franklin Graham is still all in with The Animal blaming the terrorist attack on Antifa.(note: FBI says there’s no evidence of that.Of course Frank probably believes the FBI is part of the “deep state”) .Lets see how other leaders of the Right Wing evangelical community react.

So far ,the Trump backlash seems to be much more among Republicans in Congress than among Republican voters.

In October, Republican leaning voters said they considered themselves Trump supporters over Republican supporters 59-30. Now, its 48-45 the other way. Definitely a start.

Colin Powell, a former Republican Secretary of State, says he no longer considers himself a member of the party.
During an interview on Sunday about Wednesday’s attack on the U.S. Capitol, CNN’s Fareed Zakaria asked Powell if he thinks Republicans who refused to condemn President Donald Trump realize they “encouraged, at least, this wildness to grow and grow.”
“They did,” Powell said. “And that’s why I can no longer call myself a fellow Republican.”
