This couldn’t come at a worse time for the party. Republicans are trying to rally their loyalists to vote Jan. 5 in two Senate runoff races that will decide whether Democrats have full governing control in Washington next year or Republicans can block some of their policies.

- Politico reports that #CrookedPerdue and #CrookedKelly are popping up on social media, accusing the two senators of being “liberal DemoRats.” That’s despite the fact that Perdue and Kelly stuck their necks out politically to try to demonstrate how concerned they were with election fraud. Shortly after they learned they were going to runoffs, they sent out a joint statement demanding Georgia’s Republican secretary of state resign over perceived misdeeds in overseeing the election. They provided no evidence, and Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger (R) has ridiculed them for it.
- Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel was campaigning in Georgia this weekend when she encountered some GOP voters who don’t see the point in voting if the election is supposedly rigged. CNN reported that she was confronted by concerns about using “money and work [to win the runoffs] when it’s already decided.” “It’s not decided,” she pushed back.
- The president has demonized two of the most prominent Georgia Republicans in the state, Raffensperger and Gov. Brian Kemp (R), baselessly accusing them of somehow playing a role in his losing the election. “The governor’s done nothing. … I’m ashamed that I endorsed him,” Trump said of Kemp on Sunday. Raffensperger has been so assailed by Trump and his supporters for overseeing a free and fair election in his state that he and his wife have received death threats, and he has accepted a security detail. Before the 2020 elections, these were two of the most Trump-supportive politicians in Georgia, arguably in the United States…..

Right now. About a 50/50 chance.
If Trump really goes on a campaign to discourage or depress Loeffler/Perdue votes, then it means that
he’s more interested in punishing the insufficient election-bashing zeal of those who’ve been his abject lackeys and errand-children for four long years
than he is in making life as difficult and unsuccessful for Joe Biden, the thief whom he calls (with his entire family) criminals.
Go figure. On second thoughts, it’s probably not worth the effort.
One possibility that is plausible is that Trump wants Schumer as Senate majority leader because then Trump will be the unquestionable leader of the GOP. If a Republican wins then, McConnell is arguably the GOP leader in a similar way that Pelosi was the Democratic leader until Biden got the nomination.
Trump thinks in the short term. I wouldn’t be surprised if he sees Republicans losing an election when he isn’t on the ballot as something he can crow about for the next few months at least.
I think Trump will endorse both Republican candidates.
They both stuck their neck out for him. If Trump doesn’t, then they won’t remain as loyal to him.

Republicans fear Trump because of the hold he has on the party.They know that his followers now constitute the essential “base” of the party .
The story goes that when Stalin died ,the leadership of the CPSU was literally scared to enter the room where his corpse lay,so intimidated were they by his cult of personality.When Trump leaves office in about 50 days we will quickly see if his journey to irrelevance has begun or does the Republican Party continue to tiptoe around him ala the Stalin toadies .So far?I wouldn’t bet on them showing the backbone to take him on.A few tweets and an appearance on Fox and Friends ought to be enough to keep them in line.
And James you actually further a lot of our arguments here by your last statement…for Trump it has never been about the party, it has always been about Trump…but what everyone is trying say is that the Party has sold itself for Trump and you don’t just walk that back…once Trump is no longer in office…the party is still sold to Trump…look, he has raised 100 plus million dollars since he lost the election…that is crazy…there are a shit ton of Republicans still willing to follow this guy no matter what and that is a force in politics we haven’t really experienced in this country on this level…a cult/nationalist following by a large minority of people…that is scary shit…

We both know how the Law Works, Biden Wouldn’t be in jail, the justice department is not the Republican Party…you can’t prosecute someone without evidence, and indicting a VP/President elect, no Justice Department has that juice…Though they can shelter a president from an investigation, we all know the Mueller Report didn’t go further not because it didn’t want to, but because there was the top brass pushing for it to only go so far…
Oh and he owns the party who is making money off them right now, his election campaign and his son’s Super PAC…they are getting money while other people aren’t…and who knows what they do what that money, probably some expensive meetings at Trump properties paid for by the Trump campaign…talk about who should be in jail…lol
