Moderna releases the numbers from its early testing on human volunteer’s….
Their numbers seem to actually be better than Pfizer’s which are at 90%……
The overall good thing is that by the Spring?
America and other countries will have several vaccine’s available to combat the wild growth of the Covid-19 virus…
There are more than 50 other vaccine’s in the pipeline….
The drugmaker Moderna announced on Monday that its coronavirus vaccine was 94.5 percent effective, based on an early look at the results from its large, continuing study.
Researchers said the results were better than they had dared to imagine. But the vaccine will not be widely available for months, probably not until spring.
Moderna is the second company to report preliminary data on an apparently successful vaccine, offering hope in a surging pandemic that has infected more than 53 million people worldwide and killed more than 1.2 million. Pfizer, in collaboration with BioNTech, was the first, reporting one week ago that its vaccine was more than 90 percent effective.
Pfizer and Moderna were the first to announce early data on large studies, but 10 other companies are also conducting big Phase 3 trials in a global race to produce a vaccine, including efforts in Australia, Britain, China, India and Russia. More than 50 other candidates are in earlier stages of testing.
The Food and Drug Administration has said that coronavirus vaccines should be at least 50 percent effective to be approved….
…
Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, director of the institute, said in an interview: “I had been saying I would be satisfied with a 75 percent effective vaccine. Aspirationally, you would like to see 90, 95 percent, but I wasn’t expecting it. I thought we’d be good, but 94.5 percent is very impressive.”
This from a guy who won’t be around to do what he says….
Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar said Monday that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will move “as quickly as possible” to clear vaccine candidates developed by Moderna and Pfizer for emergency use.
Azar told “Squawk Box” on CNBC that the FDA would review their effectiveness and safety and remove “any unnecessary bureaucratic barriers” standing between the two vaccines hitting the market.
“We hope those applications from both Pfizer and Moderna will get in as quickly as possible,” Azar said. “We will independently call those balls and strikes on the data and evidence, but we’re going to do so as quickly as possible, consistent with just making sure the science, the evidence and the law support authorization.”..
Fauci on the above….
Dr. Anthony Fauci told NBC News that he’s concerned that the Trump administration has not yet greenlighted the formal transition to the incoming Biden administration, which the infectious disease expert said is key to the quick distribution of a Covid-19 vaccine…

I like Dr Fauci.
I believe he has bern a voice of reason among the miasma of stupidity and ignorance in the Trump Administration.
However, sometimes you have to face reality.
Today ,he said that even after getting vaccinated people need to continue wearing masks and practicing social distancing. He had previously said that stamping out the virus was unlikely.
Accordingly , what he is proposing is mask wearing and social distancing as a permanent way of life.
That’s not going to happen..

I agree that masks will NOT be a normal thing….
Fauci, like all of us, also has to play the game…..
Mask wearing does actually help with other things even cold and flue prevention…
But I will join others when I do not have to wear a mask outside….
