While Trump has close on Biden in Arizona and Nevada ?

Biden STILL leads in those two state by tens of thousand s of votes….

President Trump’s attack on the legitimacy of the 2020 election Thursday evening was the most dramatic effort so far to undercut public faith in the contest.

It comes as his Democratic opponent Joe Biden looks increasingly likely to be projected by networks as the election’s winner. The former vice president holds leads in some key states and is gaining on Trump in others….

Biden is projected by some news organizations, including Fox News Channel, to already have won 264 electoral college votes — just six short of the 270 needed to claim the presidency. That means that projections of Biden as the election’s overall winner could come soon….

      Replies here suggest the average person (not my followers, but the friends/associates of my followers) thinks it’s a toss-up. Makes sense, especially since the media has been exceptionally careful/pious about not wanting to get ahead of the story.

      Based on numbers of outstanding votes, where they’re coming from Biden has it with PA alone.
      May get AZ, def NV, GA is closest race where Biden may not survive later mailings/provisional of approx 28K. N.C. not enough info to know anything but predictions by media.

        Coconino county posted 5,713 ballots. Breakdown:
        Biden: 2,953 (51.7%)
        Trump: 2,568 (45%)

        Coconino is a liberal county, home to Navajo Nation tribal land and Flagstaff. (also, the Grand Canyon from the postcards.)

        Trump is now trailing Biden by 47,052 ballots in the state.

        Postal Service Processed 150K Ballots After Election

        “More than 150,000 ballots were caught in U.S. Postal Service processing facilities and not delivered by Election Day, agency data shows, including more than 12,000 in five of the states that have yet to be called for either President Trump or his Democratic challenger, Joe Biden,” the Washington Post reports.

        “Despite assurances from Postal Service leaders that agency officials were conducting daily sweeps for misplaced ballots, the mail service acknowledged in a court filing Thursday that thousands of ballots had not been processed in time, and that more ballots were processed Wednesday than on Election Day.”

  2. Where is the “reporting” on the bald faced lies that such Republican luminaries as Newt Gingrich, Lindsay Graham, Bill Bennett and the Republican National Committee are spreading in a blatant effort to incite violence?

    The world awaits your expert dissecting of how the Republicans are “distancing” themselves from Trump!

    • Republicans are either parroting Trump’s lies, staying stone silent, or providing tepid vanilla comments about the subversion of Democracy.

      Al Gore and George Bush should hold a press conference and provide everyone with a civics lesson. The problem: Many people, especially the uneducated Republican base, don’t know how any of this works and are willing to believe the most ridiculous lies.

      Just wrote a big check to the registration project that will seek to re-register over 200,000 Georgians illegally purged from the rolls this year. Are special elections tough, they sure are. But with a demotivated Republican base we just might have a shot. We’re organizing a virtual California fundraiser for the Georgia special, I will keep you posted.

    It will now take Republicans exactly 60 seconds to become deficit Hawks again.

    And Lady G is delighted to return to DC so she can fight Nancy’s radical agenda.

    While the talking heads essentially concede the fact, no one seemingly wants to forthrightly state they obvious…

    That Joseph R Biden has been Elected President of the United States.

    • Trump will be the only President who lost the popular vote twice

      He’s also the first major party nominee to lose the popular vote back to back since Adlai Stevenson

      • He’s already a little over four million behind and California has millions more to count.

        He could end up losing the popular vote by 6-7 Million or more.

        However, Trump did not have a father or grandfather as President.

          • Republicans have now lost the popular vote in 7 of the last 8 elections.

            Getting above 47% is a major major problem. And it will increasingly be tough for them to win the electoral college with those kinds of numbers. However most think there’s nothing wrong.

            Just look at the immature post by Madison Cawthorn “Cry more libs” when he was elected to Congress.

            What an embarrassment!

            • Losing the popular vote (without facing extinction or merger) 7 times out 8 is, I think, a a record.

              I think that he runner up (you don’t win silver; you lose gold) would be the Democrats losing the popular vote in five of the six elections between 1860 and 1880 (all but 1876), and six of the eight elections between 1896 and 1932 (all but 1912-1916,).

              • Scratch that slightly: the Democrats lost the popular vote in all but two of the eight) nine elections from 1896 to 1932. Even in 1912, Wilson won fewer votes (6.3 million) than the sum of T.R.’s (4.1) and Taft’s (3.5).

                • And that was with Democrats using the law to disenfranchise a whole lot of Americans who would have likely voted heavily against them.

                  • Well, to be fair, that’s less true of 1860-1880, with fewer Southern states after 1860 being in the Electoral College, and before the deconsruction of Reconstruction (with the connivance,or at least connivance, of the GOP that had enacted the 15th Amendment).

                    But it’s certainly true of 1896-1932.

                      The Supreme Court issued an order in the Pennsylvania case, but it’s not what the Trump campaign wanted, NBC News reports.

                      Justice Samuel Alito repeated the guidance from the Pennsylvania Secretary of State that post-Tuesday mail ballots must be segregated, but did not direct them to stop counting….

                      A federal judge on Friday rejected Republican congressional candidates’ lawsuit seeking to change signature verification procedures used for processing ballots in Nevada.

                      Judge Andrew Gordon of the U.S. District Court for Nevada said that the injunction sought by two GOP candidates in Clark County, the most populous county in the state, would needlessly delay the vote counting that has become the subject of national attention in recent days.

                      “The public interest is not in favor of disrupting the completion of the processing and counting of the ballots,” Gordon, who was appointed by former President Obama, said at the end of a two-hour hearing Friday evening….

                They got 50 once, barely. These streaks are hardly unique for either party.

                • The question is will Republicans dust off their “autopsy report” from 2012 that detailed their problems winning in a diversifying America. Or will they point to slightly higher rates among Hispanic (mostly Cuban) and some African-American men as proof that they don’t need to change?

            Other back-to-back major-party losers include Tom Dewey (1944 & 1948) and William Jennings Bryan (1896 & 1900; also 1908), but like Adlai (and unlike J.Q, Adams & B. Harrison) they never became President.

            Hayes lost the popular vote in 1876 but was not renominated in 1880 (nor had he been nominated in 1872).

            Henry Clay (under different labels) lost three times (1824, 1832 & 1844), but not consecutively; while Thomas Pinckney (Fed. 1804 & 1808) didn’t have a popular vote worth talking about either to lose or to win.

  6. More philosophical is the question of whether Donald Trump’s party is the same as the Grand Old Party that was founded in 1854..

    Both I and Jared Kushner (among others) have described Trump’s nomination and election as a hostile take-over of the Republican Party.
